I use a 5 ft leader on my sinking lines. Seems to work for me. 9ft on
floating lines. wayne "George Adams" wrote in message ... From: "Sierra fisher" Using nylon leaders, I have had the occasion, that I am counting my sinking line down, and I look out and see that my fly is still floating on the surface. When you use a sinking line, you should use a very short leader in order to avoid the situation you describe above.
