As one of the NGs Silverbacks, I find it incredible that the conservatives in the Republican Party have been bambozzled by the "NEOCONS" like Norman Podhoretz. Norman Podhoretz is from a notorious Trotskyite Communist backround, as is William Krystol and several other prominant "NEOCONS." The doctrine of pre-emptive war, the drive to control the energy producing areas and supress Arab Nationalism, the doctrine of continuous war, the attack on personal freedoms, etc are all direct borrowings from the Trotskyite playbook, and were policies that split the Communist International in the 1940's. Even penetration of democratic political parties, like the Republicans (and the Democrats) was a widely discussed tactic of the Trotskyites. That this group should have its sucess in the penetration of the Republicans is an amazing irony of history. John Birch must be turning in his grave! The scary thing is if history continues this replay. Because . . . in the run-up to the Fascist/National Socialist takeover of Germany, the business classes and the conservative social and religous parties, felt THEY (like Bush and the "R"s) were using Hitler and the Brownshirts (substitute "NEOCONS) to bolster the nation. However, the Fascists (like the NEOCONS) had ideas of their own. Lord I hope Im wrong. Dave Now that is interesting. Of course I knew that Podhertz was a red diaper baby ( As am I, sort of. Shirt tail relatives fought with the Abe Lincoln Brigade in Spain in the 30s. Even closer ones were black listed because they were self admitted Reds.). But I didn't know that Krystol was one too. While I don't think they are still interested in fomenting a world wide Proletarian revolution, certainly their view of how the world works would be influenced by their up bringing. g.c. |
