Default ROFB Charity (Warren)

It would be tough to organize something from scratch. I was thinking
about some existing youth programs that we could offer some assistance.
There are thousands of kid's fishing derbys around the country, and as
many youth organizations...finding one that could get the two in
algnment would be the goal, then offer what we could to help that effort
is what I think would make sense...and make me feel like I was giving
something back to the sport! It could be a combination of equiptment and
money...nothing grandious, just a small pay back for the good fortune
all of us enjoy in the ability to go "play" on the water. But I still
agree with Warren, it is an individual thing, and I don't want to "sell"
my opinion on it...just saying what I feel is all.

It is extremely hard to keep a charity going when you have hands on people.
Almost impossible for a nationwide maybe 100 person Internet based group. I
used to be a committee member for a local Ducks Unlimited chapter. A lot of
work. Eventually, to many DU chapters in the surrounding area, And not
enough buck for the bang. Most of us likely have our pet charities. Some
we give money to, others we give time and money. To do a ROFB charity. How
do you sell the idea to sponsors? How much bang for their buck are they
going to get? How do you pick a charitable goal? One that keeps on
ticking. For a bass fishing group, collect an extra fee for the tourneys
and give it to a fisheries student at some Univ. studying Fisheries
management, marine biology - bass especially. is one idea.
