... I'd go for a strap--just be sure that it is the correct width to fit the winch drum. It doesn't stretch and a twist is only a temporary problem. When the stitching goes rotten (after many years) replace it. Thanks Jimbo. Most people have suggested the strap and that is what I have purchased. The only common recommendation was that I replace the strap every year to prevent any mishaps.
