We here in Boston hosted the Cardinals and their fans twice this year - in the
regular season in June and of course this week in the World Series. You have a great team, and the fans lived up to their reputation as rabidly pro-Cardinals without being anti anyone else. But the actions of the Cardinals organization go even further to show the class of St. Louis. Last night the gates of the stadium were thrown open to Red Sox fans, allowing those who did not have tickets into the stadium in the last few innings to be present for what would become Boston's first World Series victory since 1918. That was so classy. Believe me, we know disappointment and finally elation, but we also know sportsmanship. Thanks, St. Louis! Maurice T. Cunningham, Cambridge, Mass. |
