sorry I was a bit ****ed the night I replied to your post.

You can buy a gas lighter at most shops that sell cooking gear that has a
long reach, just put it through the hole and spark it up, you can adjust the
flame length too.

Open the valve on the lamp slowly, and bingo, it should light.
