Guys,

Any suggestion on what airport I should go for?
I would prefer to be able to hitch a ride with someone. Time is way to
precious to spend trying to navigate my way in a rental car when there
are people who know their way around (and when I could be fishing
instead ;-)).
Saw Jeff's comment "....booking a room at the slide inn often becomes a
sport" and you know what, after I sent my credit card info to them
through fax I haven't heard anything (even emailed them to hear if they
got the fax, but no response). Anyway, they said earlier that the room
was reserved in my name, so I guess it should be allright (even though
they haven't charged me yet).
Back to the airport issue, I'd like to be able to start looking at air
fares and destinations but need a little help here. What airports are
there to consider? Anyone close by such an airport that I can hitch a
ride or should I consider trying my luck in a rental car?

/Roger

roger - when i reserved my room, penny indicated you were in #6, so
sounds like you are ok. still, if you haven't received confirmation in
a few weeks, i'd call or e-mail. they are a family operation and their
reservation system was...uh...in development last year. (it was a
grease penciled calendar with lots of smudges.g)

the guys out west can confirm this and will know better, but as far as i
recall, west yellowstone is closest, then bozeman, then jackson hole in
wyoming, then probably idaho falls? once you get your reservations, let
us know. i'm sure you won't need to worry about the rides at any time
during your stay. the only reason to get a rental is to assure you can
go where you want, when you want. but, the folks out west are very
accommodating and the crowd usually offers a variety of fishing
destination or sightseeing choices. the best fishing on the madison last
year was the 2 mile stretch by the slide inn, between the bridge and the
dam...and from there folks traveled in all directions. you'll meet a
lot of people happy to show you their country...

ok now that i've made all these assurances, who else is planning on
showing up? g

West Yellowstone (WYS) is a nice little airport and very close to the Slide Inn.
Delta connects to there through Salt Lake City.
