You pick them out after there burned, flatten them and throw them in
the trash. The fire gets rid of that tasty spam smell that cause a
bear to hang around a trash container.
The only bear I have ever shot was an adult bear that weighed about
120 lbs. It had a can stuck on it's tongue. The top of the can had
been opened with a churchkey. The bears tongue was swolen up like a
football. I killed it with one shot from a 22. It probably was more
than a day or two from dying. I went and confessed to a game warden
and told him where the bear was. No jail, no ticket.

Good deed BJ, going to give you another star...think that's * * * * * now.
No trash where I'm going, not many bears either, at least we didn't see
one last year, although we cooked the salmon we caught.
Might have to eat salmon for 9 days straight.

Aw, now that's just so sweet...it's sorta like being the only guy at the
Playboy mansion on Playmate Wear-A-Down-Coat-and-Chastity-Belt
Night...with a blast furnace...and body odor...and a crate of rotten
squid juice, a 5kg. can of toxic waste, 10kg. of road-killed skunk, and
one rotten Trojan John Holmes pre-used in a gay porn video...

I'd offer that this might help, but, well, you know,

Other than for some plastics that give off toxic fumes when burned,
"burning" of wastes such as food cans and aluminum foil isn't a problem.
The problem is that people leave the residue in the ashes instead of
removing it for proper disposal.

I'm thinking of bringing meats for our fishing trip in July.
Anyone use a vacuum food sealer?
-tom

I use a Tillia. Vacuum pack fish for the freezer. Works great. Keeps the
stuff very nice. The Halibut I got in Homer last July is still great shape.
Commercially vac packed and sealed. For a fishing trip, I would just use
the Baja Vacuum pack. Put the meat in a good Ziploc and submerge the bag
except for the top in water, forcing out the air. Then freeze. You are not
going to be storing the food for a long time and that is where the vacuum
pack excels.

Bill, I like that!
Understand the idea of forcing the air out of the Ziploc by submerging the
bag
in water....excellent! Tried to do a search, but coming up empty on the
Baja
Vacuum Pack. Is that a stainless steel vacuum jar?
thanks,
-tom

The Baja Vacuum Pack is what Jonathon Roldan of Baja calls the submerging of
the Ziploc.

Bill,
Thanks, helps when tying a name to the idea for a search, but understand the
concept. I'll use it when I'm in Alaska this July.
