The short story: Fire came to eat us and our house at 2:15 Sunday morning.
Fortunately for us, it didn't quite succeed. Our family and house are fine
and dandy, albeit well smoked. A small amount of fire damage to the porch,
but nothing that can't be repaired. We are so much luckier than most in our
neck of the woods. I'll be off the air for a while until utilities are
reinstated in our neighborhood. But before I sign off, I would like to thank
all the well-wishers for your thoughts and prayers. BMIA to those that put

You might take a minute to fumble your beads, kiss your rug, or whatever you
chose to do along those lines for the rest of the folks in the area are that
aren't enjoying the good luck that my family has.

That's good news, and hope your luck continues to hold.
I have a decades-long friendship with a guy whose office is about a mile from
the Scripps Ranch area - which happens to be where his house still stands
(amazingly enough, as there was heavy damage to the neighborhood).

His luck also holds, but he doesn't know whether to sh!t or go blind: no
matter where he is he's too close for comfort.

Godspeed, Danl.

Among your many friends, I wish you and yours continued good fortune and
the smile of Providence.

The Arabs have a nice greeting that is (phonetically) said: "Ah, Salahm
Ahli Khum" which, literally translated says "Peace upon you". Good in
any language.

Funny that a fishing line makes a helluva bond...........or introduces
the opportunity. Special waters to share with you in NC and special
wishes for you and yours in the meantime.

Danl, let me add my good wishes to all those expressed above.

The pictures we've seen on tv really do make it look like Hell on
earth. Glad you and yours escaped.

Danl,
Glad to hear you and yours are OK. You and all the other folks caught in the
inferno are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank goodness. Was a ROFF discussion on your 'puter on Sunday morning?
Maybe that's what de-appetized the fire.
Thanks for letting us know.

Danl,
I grew up in the Chino Hills, so have lived through this nightmare
before. Good luck to you and yours. If you need anything, just send a
quick email and I'll do what I can. Again, good luck and glad to hear that
you're safe.
