Easy there, big fellah.

Most of us have seen enough from the "BJ"'s (pun under development) that troll
by this place that we mentally if not actively filter their "contributions".

It didn't even occur to me to drag out Ol' Cluebringer for such trash...

Refreshing, that. One can only wonder what might transpire if he should go
REALLY righteous one of these days.

who'd bet a shiny new nickel it would be a sight to behold.

What are you talking about? Jeff is doing a splendid job. :-)

IMO, lawyers are no more or less corrupt than any other professional
class. For every William Jennings Bryant there's a Clarence Darrow.

Mr. Incorruptible, Ralph Nader, who probably drives a worse car than
anyone on ROFF except maybe Warren, is a lawyer.

John Adams, founding father and hero of the Revolution, was a
scrupulously honest lawyer. He actually defended the British soldiers
who fired on the crowd at the Boston Massacre, and won. He could have
been lynched.

Abraham Lincoln was a lawyer.

Your ex-wife's lawyer who took your house and your dog is an asshole.
That's the real source of the problem people have with lawyers.

indeed he was. but my bet is that an attack on computer sofware people
would draw a wider defense, from this bunch.

absolutely.

well, that's the problem that 50% of litigants have with lawyers. some
gotta win, some gotta lose.

If you condemn hog****, then you must perforce condemn the hogs, this
inevitably results in a shortage of bacon, and you will then be blamed for
the shortage. This may also result in a run on thin skin, as all the fatty
stuff simply disappears from the market.

Are you "just lawyers"?, or are you "just" lawyers? Whichever is the case,
or even if both apply, you ought to be able to defend yourselves.

Or do you get up in court, and moan to the gallery that nobody else openly
condemns the opposition? Sounds like a **** poor defence to me.

Just be grateful that you are not obliged to wear a cape, or a silly hat,
that you can spell "Monopoly", and even know what it means, and that nobody
on here is likely to assume from your posts that you are a congenital idiot,
on whom even the simplest rhetoric would merely be wasted.

ah wayno, i have enough faith and trust in most of the folks here that
i've met, and in some i haven't. whether they respond to the issue or
not isn't important to me. it was important to me, for whatever
misguided reason, that i respond. ...hell, i supported howard dean's
campaign, so what do i know.

the weather downeast is beckoning. i KNOW there is a shad somedamnwhere
in the neuse, or a bass in hyde county, looking to give some sport to a
few friends. when are you coming down? i think our mutual friend could
use a visit... he just lost another secretary.

Can't win for losing, wayno. Ya chime in with your part, and it just
keeps the horse**** running. Ya try to stay out and let the thread die a
peaceful death, and it just keeps going anyway.

For the most part (not entirely, before somebody points out the
exceptions where I fail at this) I personally try to avoid "third man
in" postings. If someone chooses to embarass themselves in public, I
figure the biggest favor I can do them is to let it pass without comment,
unless I am offended on what I perceive to be truly personal level.

Since you seem to think this thread has taken a somewhat personal turn,
though, I'll count myself as present for the roll call. I think the vast
majority of lawyers earn the money they make, and help a ton of people.
It's close to home, as my dad's ******* of a union tried to cut him out
of his retirement plan after he paid dues for 25 years, and without a
lawyer, we'd be in trouble right now. I suspect that's how many medical
malpractice plaintiffs feel. Many smaller cases seem to get resolved
after a simple phone call placed by one's attorney.

I admire defense attorneys who work hard to protect the rights of the
less-than-upstanding citizens, understanding that when rights start to
erode across the board, it's that sector that gets hit first.

I've seen juvenile courts in action, where the goal of everyone in the
courtroom is to try to achieve some sort of positive action for the minor
in front of the bench. I think the direction taken in the mid-80's to
try juvenile drug offenders as adults was tragic.

As in any profession, you got your good and your bad, and I haven't heard
anything about Edward's background that places him in the bad.

Why are you so defensive? Are you ashamed of what you do?

If he's such a sweetheart nomimate him for sainthood. I've read how he
made in money and I wouldn't vote for someone who made it that way. It
would have been a tough decision to pick between a moron and a Edwards.
Looks like I won't have to now.
If you look on your keyboard there's a wide key with an arrow on it, it
makes upper case letters.

thanks for the upper case typing hint. brilliant stuff. ... but, i think
lower case is appropriate in communicating with you. since we are
sharing constructive comments, if you'd look in your dictionary, it
actually allows one to figure out how to spell...even the simple words.
perhaps you're not an idiot in real life, but you sure give that
appearance.

so, again... what was your occupation/employment/profession that allowed
you to make money without "steeling" it? you purport to have principled
business/professional standards... please tell us what you do/did in
your work life that lends any credibility to your insipid posts.

...and, how would you know whether edwards is my friend or not? once
again, from the content of your ooze, it's clear you don't know what you
are talking about.

on what *facts* do you base your judgment of senator edwards' "morals"?
have you spent time with him, talked with him? do you have any friggin
basis for such a stupid comment? please post something indicative of
the reservoir of knowledge you have dredged up for such a statement.

i don't know you, but based solely on the lack of substance in your
statements here, and with some practical understanding of the qualities
inherent in most human beings, i suspect it wouldn't take an fbi
investigation to find the carbuncles on your soul.

as i said before, you play to the cheap seats. i have no doubt you have
fun doing so; and, without any question, i certainly believe you have
more fun than you're entitled to.

Check you old fan magazines.

My windfalls depend on work and good luck, not someone elses bad luck.

as stupid a comment as you've ever written here. so, what is it you
do/did? give us your mother theresa credentials. "windfalls"? wtf has
that got to do with work? ...you seem a bitter old schmuck flapping his
gums for the easy sell. you don't know john edwards, or his work ethic,
or his skill, or his compassion, or the cost or worth of his life. why
fret over writing in "alferd [sic] neuman's" name... just vote for bush.

....oh hell, your ability to think must be linked to your ability to
spell. i've been "responsive", though i understand how the likes of you
would consider it "defensive" for someone to respond to your posts by
pointing out you are making comments befitting a simpleton.

i have done some things for which i am properly ashamed, all to do with
matters in my personal life. thus far, i can't think of anything i've
done professionally of which i am "ashamed"... so no bj, i'm not ashamed
to be a lawyer nor of what i do as a lawyer.

now, your turn... what is it you do/did? are you ashamed?

jeff
