I keep all my messages sent. I can't find were I ever posted this question.
If you can send me a copy I'll stand corrected. Even so maybe there would be someone new who would appreciate your expert opinions on flyline dressing?? That is why I posted the question to begin with and I did get a reply or two from several thoughtful enough to respond kindly. Thanks wrote in message ... wrote in message ... What line dressing do you use?? I have used Scientific Anglers for several years with success. Thanks MIKE Most of us probably use the same thing we used back in April of last year when you posted this almost exact same question..... --riverman |

It looks to me like you asked two questions: "What is a good Fly-Line Cleaner and lubricant" and "Any home remedies". Out of curiosity, what do you view as the difference between fly line dressing and fly line cleaner and lubricant? -- Charlie... |

Mike,
It all works but some seem to think that the Japanese made "TMC Line Dressing" imported by Umpqua is best. Some swear by "Russ Peak Line Dressing". The old timers use Mucilin paste. (I buy that Abolene stuff by the 55 gallon drum so I can save enough money to go to the sushi bar once a month.) -- Willam Alfred Kiene, PhD, DDS, BS, RSVP, GTO, KGB, FBI, MGB, CIA, DVD, etc. Ah So Sushi Bar, Ltd. Thanks Bill...I appreciate your help. Also, I am here in Southern Illinois,
a beautiful area to behold. I'm less than five minute from a huge Federal Wildlife refuge and the Shawnee National Forest. Allot of great warm water fishing, though Devils Kitchen Lake a large pristine deep and clear springfed lake has a sustaining population of good trout. It was stocked back in 1975 and the fish liked it enough to spawn and survive. It is stocked occasionally. Thanks to those that helped. Mike "Bill Kiene" wrote in message . com... No but I have heard of people using it. I have also used Scotch Guard....I
also use Scotch Guard for my Foam Flys. I let them soak then dry. It works for me. Some people have environmental issues with using such products though. MIKE "Bob" wrote in message ... Things may have changed in the past 2 years. Anyways, I don't waterproof my foam bugs, I like the way they eventually absorb enough water to become neutrally buoyant, and eventually slow sinking. As much fun as it is to take bluegills off the top, fishing just subsurface, or a foot deep is also fun. And I have boatloads of fresh ones if I really want to be on top again. |
