![]() --------snip--------------------------- June 30, 2006 - Members of Congress may not come to the floor armed with pistols as they did in the days leading up to the Civil War, but their words are as toxic as any time since then. And we are - in many ways - a more divided nation than any time since then. In interviews with political leaders, media analysts, and people in communities around the country, ABC News found what appears to be a new phenomenon: the polarization is feeding on itself. It's not just politicians, business or religious leaders, liberals or conservatives - or the media: It's each of us. And it's alarming. |

It's not just politicians, business or religious leaders, liberals or conservatives - or the media: That's news only insofar as old news is news......which it's not. It's each of us. No, it's only the same old ****heads and killers.......most of us don't qualify......wouldn't know how if we wanted to. And it's alarming. Yeah, but it's always been that. Wolfgang |

Really. http://www.visi.com/~cyli "And if we remain divided, perhaps there's a reason for it?" The reason has to be faults in our nature. Since the repeal of the fairness doctrine in brodcasting it has gotten worse. The current sad state of affairs correlates with the arrival of Rush Limbaugh on radio. It's a sad comment on us as a people that there is a market for hate. |

And if we remain divided, perhaps there's a reason for it? -- "And if we remain divided, perhaps there's a reason for it?" The reason has to be faults in our nature. Faults in our nature? People have been disagreeing for an eternity. We used to (some say we still do...but at least it's less) go to war over it, now we go on talk radio/TV and yell at each other. Cluelessness on a biblical scale. The 20th century was by far the bloodiest in history. This one bids fair to keep pace.....at least. The current sad state of affairs correlates with the arrival of Rush Limbaugh on radio. It's a sad comment on us as a people that there is a market for hate. Bull. You give him way too much credit. The recent liberal frustration has to do with the democratic party's complete inability to articulate it's position and put forth a decent Presidential candidate. The only time they managed to win since the 1970s was with some sexual harrassing low-life. Idiot. Transparent idiot. Wolfgang |
