Missed that on the first post. It was a 50 cal Sharps Buffalo rifle.

back east who had no idea how to fish for western trout. He caught nothing but
Pickens, seemingly doing everything wrong was catching trout at will and
needling the poor fellow at every opportunity, always with that long drawl and
the smile ready to break at any second.
Pickens was at his best just being Pickens.

I've never seen the movie, but I HAVE seen Escanaba in da moonlight. As a
matter of fact, your mention of it inspired me rummage through some old
family photographs. Comparing them to what I saw when Jeff and I drove
through back in June, I see that the place looks about the same as it did
fifty years ago.
