They hook up with John, hook up the trailer and drive to whereveringod'snamewayneisnow, shanghai his ass and head north. You and Joel and me START north, cross the Big Mac, head south and follow the fumes. We all meet somewhere wet. Does this make me a middle-poster? Looks like it from here. ![]() Wolfgang who, having the last word (well, thus far anyway) would appear to be the bottom poster. p.s no good reason i can see not to stop and wet a line en route. |

as you know, i much prefer the "less traveled" spots far from the
madding crowds. i'm sure the au sable is magnificent, but if it's like all the other "famous" waters i've seen, i'll pass. i really liked those u.p. venues and streams, and it seemed like the critter ratio was just right up there. that's my vote anyway... but, i'm open-minded and tolerant. oh yeah, september would be the month for me. may is penns, july out west, september is open, october is graham county. can't change the rhythm of the woild... so much for the advice, but i look forward to meeting jay one of these days. jeff (up here, in the less posted spot) Wolfgang wrote: Wayne and Bill have been talking about a Troll clave (you know.....the lower peninsula.....BELOW the bridge.....the big mac) on the holy waters sometime this coming season. If I was in the business of giving advice, and you of taking it, I'd suggest we get together on the notion of exploring this possibility. The Au Sable, so I'm told, is big enough to float a Baker AND it holds trout! ![]() Wolfgang |

Is three a consensus? I'd join you, despite your slander of my fair city. :-) And for what it is worth, I've had the Au Sable to myself both times I've fished it. Neither were during the "best" season (one was late July, the other late August). The Mason Tract especially reminded me quite a bit of a U.P. stream. Very nice brookie fishing. On the river, I saw no other anglers and only one or two kayak/canoe groups float by. That said, you wouldn't have to twist my arm very hard to get me to join a congregation in Iron/Schoolcraft/Baraga/Ontonagan/Gogebic counties for some streamside laying on of hands. The dates are roughly set for the week after father's day. To refresh memories, there are two groups that meet in Grayling every year and join up for dinner on the Saturday after daddy's day. However this particular mini-clave revolved around a possible and promised visit in the UP at a certain dead lawyer's pond. So you would in effect get both. A chance to toss hummingbird sized flies to large brown trout in nothern lower michigan, and a possible chance to toss adams and sulfures at brookies in a pond of literature. And if you stuck around, a chance to fellowship with a hundred folks who would consider you a life long friend and do something good for the rivers in northern michigan. |

That's because he didn't know well enough to call me for an airport rescue (if I'm recalling ofitons' Cleveland experience correctly, that is). if it's on, i'm flying to marquette. i like that place. i nominate it as our rallying point... but, if asadi is driving the lounge with wheels, well... i know he'd love marquette too. I don't know Marquette, having merely driven through it, but there sure is some nice water in pretty much every direction. And I know it's only about an hour and a half more to go to my usual stomping grounds when I hit the city limits. :-) I *do* know that several aunts and uncles have lived there, and that a certain barrister-turned-author lived there, and that's just about good enough for me. BTW, picked up a new set of fly tying tools yesterday
![]() Wayne Mazel Tov! I've watched this thread spiral through several layers of vitriol and nonsense. It's over, My candidate lost, someone else's one. To be honest, I didn't, and don't, care for either of them that much. They are both children of privilege who want me to believe that they care about someone in my income bracket as much as they care about their next golf game. I have no desire for endless recounts, lawsuits, or pointless demonstrations for the sake of demonstrating. What I want to see is a field of viable candidates who will run on the issues and concerns that matter to the middle class, not the splinter groups, the illegal alien pressure groups, and the corporate sponsors that paid for this last cluster**** of an election. While I have seen many openings to jump in and attack someone or their position, I'd sooner spend the time reading, tying flies, and scratching my ass when it itches; or taking advantage of the semi-tropical climate of my home and actually go fishing if the weather, tides, and my pain levels allow. OBROFF: To that end, I have purchased a ULA Force 2X LT reel and a TFO TiCr-X 6 wt rod to use and enjoy. I hope to travel into New England this summer and introduce them to trout or even land-locked salmon if opportunity allows. -- Stev Lenon 91B20 '68-'69 When the dawn came up like thunder http://web.tampabay.rr.com/stevglo/i...age92kword.htm |
