I can only assume your use of the term "spot on" refers to skin
cancer. You should be ashamed insulting those of use who have had skin
cancers cut off (3 squams and counting for me). Skin cancer is a very
real danger to fly fishermen and should not be trivialized by snide
comments such as yours.

Now, if you say that isn't what you meant, I get to call you a liar,
right?

Nice try, Charlie. I too have had one removed. And now I have just been

told
I probably have lung cancer. I have a procedure next week to find out for
sure. Ya wanna call me "Wheezer" too.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, what a wonderful opportunity for reflection and
a bit of soul searching. For all the bickering and back stabbing that goes
on in this place, it has nevertheless proved to be a place where at least a
few true and lasting friendships have begun. It has been a place for people
to learn not only about a shared avocation but also at least a bit about
what it means to be human and interact with other humans. In the long run,
of course, none of it lasts.......which is not necessarily as sad as it may
seem.

Wolfgang
who may, at one time or another, have seen a more blatant, callous, and
self-serving example of manipulation, but certainly can't remember one.

All this horse **** aside here in ROFF Dave, you have my prayers and

Thank you. You are not alone. I still have some of your flies -- hope to fish
them in Labrador and Alaska this year.

That's a matter of some debate. One article I read finally settled
on rolling as the criterion. If you can roll it, it's a kayak. If
you can't, it's a canoe.

That would nake most SOTs canoes, no ? SOTs are a different breed,
actually: they're basically fat surfboards with hollow interiors.
This does make them more suitable for ocean fishing than canoes:
if you flip over, launch through surf, etc, the SOT yak floats &
requires much less effort to get going again. I would say that the
primary differences betw a sit-inside yak and a canoe are
rollability coupled with the ability to pretty well seal the interior
with a skirt and a much lower center of gravity.

Except there are those of us who can roll open canoes. And what about C1s,
which are decked canoes?

Traditionally, the difference has been a combination of the paddle (single
blade vs double blade) and the position you sit in them (kayak = low on your
butt, canoe = one or both knees down). Hence, decked canoes are still canoes
(C-1s) and open topped kayaks (like the WeeTwo) are truly kayaks.

Rant on With a couple Alaskan Ambers under my belt...

Mr. Conner, as much as I hate to agree with you, you (a couple weeks back)
nailed it on the head. You cry baby SOB's will end up dis-ing each other to
the point that you will never fish together (now or again...)

A couple of you dumb *******s have given up a trip of a lifetime, something
that I will probably never have the opportunity to take. Over what!? It's
amazing to site back and watch the fabric of this group get torn apart.

Cabin fever sucks!

Very sorry to hear that, Dave. Hope the results are negative.

Will be thinking of you,
