Experience has also shown that some posters are uniformly more
interesting than others, so I'm likely to pull one of Willi's posts
out of an otherwise discarded thread and follow it a step or two to
see where it leads.

What is interesting, like what is boring, varies a great deal from
one individual to another. In either case, I don't begrudge you or
anyone else their choices.

Precisely. I don't claim to read everything posted, but I read
*almost* everything. Once a thread disolves into the
Tit
-Tat
--Tit
---Tat
patern, I'll look away. That is, of course, unless I'm Tit or Tat.
;-)

In any case, ROFF seems to reach this point periodically when
otherwise regular posters state for one reason or another they're
leaving for a while to take a breather. For the life of me I can't
figure that out. Why not just take the breather if it bothers them
so much and come back when they're ready rather than fan the flames
of discontent? It's not like anyone is forcing them to read any
particular items. I must be missing something.

Google up "Barrymore"...Ethel...

81,400 hits.

HTH,

Not yet, but I've only got 81,394 more to go.

Try adding "Sarah Bernhardt" to the search terms.

The Claves have given me some friends, many new acquaintances, travel

Here's a sample of some of what they offered me:

Well, even though I have spent almost an hour watching that rather than
doing what I was supposed to do this morning (I know, I know..... nobody
*forced* me to look at it g), many thanks for putting it together and
posting it here.

Funny..... although I've only attended one Rapid River clave and one
hemi-demi-semi steelhead clave, after all these years of hanging on roff I
feel as if I "know" many many more of the those people in the photos than
I've actually ever met.....

Some amazing photos, all, except the one's of me.

I'm particularly interested in how you got that buffalo to roll-over and
play dead.

You are a Whisperer, aren't you!

Actually, I believe that's one of the photos I took. I showed it some printouts
of roff threads first.

That's just down right mean, Charlie!

I sure hope it recovered from the trauma!

Poor little bison, those threads must have been full of concentrated evil.

Remind me not to **** you off!

ROFF has always been a stew where you had to search around to find the
meaty morsels, but for me, there were enough of them and some of them were
very tasty. Maybe it's my tastes that have changed but I'm finding the
gruel has gotten too watery and far too full of gristle to be palatable. I
sincerely miss the old stew. I'm thinking my "best solution", for now, is
to take a break from ROFF.

Don't stay away too long my friend. I hope to see you on the Madison come
July. I look at the pics (hopefully you can replace my eating shot with a
hero shot) and feel like I was the photographer on all those ones of you
with fish. Hold on, I thing I was!!! "Frank, get the camera, Willi's got
another fish!"

Hope you enjoy the pix. I'll be back after I catch a few more fish and
just make sure you don't "whine!"

Willi

Definately did enjoy the pics. Its a trip down memory lane. Again, thanks.

That's about the best essay on fly fishing that I've ever seen. Not a word -
and no words needed. You could spend a lot of time reading about fly fishing
and not even come close to what you've accomplished here.
It must have been a lot of work to put together.
Thanks.
Bob
