You're going to run out of fingers and toes real soon.

In article ,
lid says...
Hmmmm. . . 1,2,4,8,16,32. . .
If it was exponential, wouldn't it be 1, 2, 4, 16, 256, 65536?

Mine is 2^n, yours is "almost" to 2^(2^n).

Never mind - another brain fart.

A much needed pep talk well and rightly said.

It would be *nice* to live in a nice place instead of a fixer upper.
But when thats all you can afford...

The article expressed pretty much what I felt after my depression
waned (4 Leinie Octoberfests helped). But I also am reminded of a very
poignant photograph that friend once showed me. It was taken circa
1935 and showed a couple of rows of very young kids, one of whom was
my friend's mother. They are standing in front of a big banner that
read "German Jewish Youth" (or something to that effect). It was a
group that was started to show the Nazis that the Jews were loyal
Germans too. According to my friend the only one to survive the Reich
was her mother, whose parents snuck out a couple years later,
eventually ending up in Wilmot WI by way of Argentina.

The point being, I'm not going anywhere now but I give no guarantees
about the future.

Not so fast, you stinkin' liberal. ;-)

Once again the point is being missed (not that it's a bad thing).

I think you missed the point. That Mark Morford column was
commiseration and pep talk for the faithful of the progressive
left, not a strategy memo for the Democrats in 2008.

Of course evangelical Christians are ****wits, of course they're
dumber than stumps. **** 'em. The stupid creeps don't even turn
out to vote unless their slimy little buttons are pushed. The
Democrats cannot blur the differences between good people and
fundamentalist ****wits, they have to shine the light of decency
and social justice and REAL American values on those cockroaches
and watch them scatter.

In other words, Democrats will NEVER have the support of those
who are opposed to abortion rights or gay rights or affirmitave
action and minority rights. So **** 'em. The Dems don't need them
and courting them will only alienate their own base. Actually the
Dems have made great strides with moderates and independents over
the last four years.

Read this quote from the author: ...

Actually I prefer this one:

"You cannot leave. You cannot drop the armor now. Why? Because you are

needed,
more than ever. You are mandatory to keep the energy flowing, the karmic
vibrator buzzing, to keep the progressive and lucid half of the nation

breathing
and healthy and awake and ever reaching out to the half that's wallowing

in fear
and violence and homophobia and sexual dread, hoping to find harmony

instead of
cacophony, common ground instead of civil war, some sort of a shared love

of a
country so messy and internationally disrespected and openly confused its

own
president can't even speak the language."
