If you want to drive a few more hours you could go over to Robinsville. No roffers live around there I don't think, but it's close to Snowbird, Santeetlah and the Nantahala - which can have SJ like crowds on weekends. g -- Charlie... http://www.chocphoto.com/ - photo galleries http://www.chocphoto.com/roff |

Mark and Walt are in western NC, wayno is in middle earth NC, and pj and
i are in eastern NC. If you decide to try some shad fishing in eastern nc, we are about 5 or 6 hours south of D.C. straight down I-95. We can do a bit of shad fishing - the middle or lower roanoke might be going strong by then, but the Neuse will be cranked up for sure - with a possibility of a striper; some salt marsh fishing for trout, redfish or flounder; or some bass fishing. Western NC is where you want to be for mountain streams and trout. NC is a long state...about 5 hours frome my place to Walt's and another 2 to Bryson City and the Great Smokies on the other side of Asheville. wayno can go both ways... uh, travel wise. g jeff riverman wrote: Hi all: The invite has been passed around a few times to meet up with all y'all for some fishing if I was ever down in your neck of the woods. It appears that I have in my possession a plane ticket back to the USofA during spring break, and I am planning to be in the DC area with a rental car, fly rod, and some time to spare during the semiweek of March 27-31. I have some errands to attend to and relations to visit with while I'm there, but I could happily make plans for a day of fishing at either end of that time window. I know its mid-week for those who are working, but is anyone interested in getting together and wetting a line? I'm thinking of something like a drive down on the afternoon of the 29th, fishing the 30th, then I could head back to DC for my outbound flight on the evening of the 31st. Of course, I might have more flexibility than others, so I can adjust accordingly. Hmm? --riverman |

Unless the stream is frozen over solid enough to require stomping through the ice covering the honey holes and then waiting two hours for the fish to unspook, I'm likely game. One trip like that was enough to last me a couple more years. --Steve |

![]() "riverman" wrote in message ... Thanks, that might be a great starting point, Mark. Where do you live, and is there good water nearby? Are there other roffians in the neigborhood? I live he http://tinyurl.com/6duu4 We can fish this and many other areas: http://tinyurl.com/68udq Here's the link to: http://www.ncwildlife.org/ You've been informed of the Ruffian crowd, and yes there is a great deal of GOOD water nearby. I fish for wild trout primariy, but there is a stocking chart--by county--at the wildlife site. As far as the temp goes, I con't say for sure, but I expect temps to run in the 60s by then. Ice fishin' not likely. Mark --riverman And is it likely that we won't be ice fishing? I've been living at 3deg S for a few years, and have forgotten what Winter means in the eastern seaboard. |

By the way, if you find yourself sliding down a snowcovered hillside, aiming for a flying leap into two feet of freezing water studded with large, pointy boulders, a number three Loomis Adventure reel attached to a ADG Titan 8' 4wt is just like an ice axe. -- Frank Reid Reverse email to reply |
