Trick I learned from Larry Nixon -- only applies in warmer weather,
obviously.

When the rain gear goes on, the shoes come off and get stowed in a dry
box. Your feet are going to be wet anyway. Might as well keep your
shoes
and socks dry for after it stops.

Is it safe to tromp around a bass boat barefoot?

It all depends. If you're good about putting things away and keeping a
neat
boat, you'd be fine.

You wouldn't want to do that in my boat however. I'm more focused on
getting fish to bite. That means there's literally dozens of lures,
hooks,
sinkers, and assorted fishing paraphenalia lying on the decks at any given
time.

I spend time putting things back into place once off the water, but in the
meantime, I wouldn't recommend being barefoot in my boat.

I wear sandals from late April into September. I know that unless I'm
wearing rubber boots, my feet are going to get wet, so I just bow to the
inevitable and embrace it. Wet, sandaled feet aren't bad, they dry
quickly
and even get washed once in a while! :-)

many hiking boots (Vasque, Lowa, etc) are very waterproof and very
comfortable.
In warmer weather, sandals?

Sandals/barefoot in the summer, Goretex boots in the winter. just
remember the sunscreen first time out.

If it is gonna rain all day, I wear water proof boots. For showers, I
keep a pair of rubber overshoes in my boat with my rain suit. Got them
at a feed and seed store for about $12. They slip over my tennis shoes
and are fine for a few hours. I have even put my shoes up and worn
just them if the rain was coming quick. They are thin and store well.

Know what you mean so what I did was buy a pair of Gore-Tex all weather boots. They might have some here http://www.cabelas.com/ or you buy some rubber over shoes and keep them on your boat.
