Locally, although the water is high it is from rains that are definitely of
the spring variety. I'm getting readings of 43-44 degrees. Local rivers with smallmouth....won't be long now! john "Frank Reid" moc.deepselbac@diersicnarf wrote in message ... I heard tell there might be a couple of folks heading to Penns this weekend. Hmm, fishing might be a bit off: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?01555000 -- Frank Reid Reverse email to reply |

Yes, I believe what Mike was saying is that the first clave was welcomed in
by spring rains that started a month before the first clave, and that since that time the spring rains have NOT started a month before the clave....the rains in other years besides this and the first - have started in conjunction with the clave.... soo..mayhap the weather will be closer to what it was like for the first clave, if not better. I really enjoyed that first clave, it was like a cram course in fly fishing....saw my first bona fide hatch and such.. john "Jeff Miller" wrote in message news:zbR2e.72545$7z6.24322@lakeread04... We always need the rain, it's good that we get it, just not as much as we have been getting the past few years. The one plus in the drought years is that the hatches seemed to be more concentrated, if you caught them, they were the best you could expect. With all this rain, it throws everything off. Last year I saw a few Hendricksons around when the sulphurs started to show up, that's messed up...it's hard enough with 5 or 6 larger flies coming off, none-the-less the rest of the early season mayflies. We're in for a doozy tonight into Sunday, looks like the worst of it will be passing North and West of here, which doesn't fare well for Penn's. They make take on some water in Coburn this weekend. They're battening down the hatches on the Delaware too. Good news is next week looks dry most of the week, at least that's what they think.. The Finn |

The Wilkes-Barre-Scranton TV station was broadcasting on its "crawl" this (Sunday) morning a constant stream of advisories of stream levels, road closings, evacuations, etc. Sporadic mini-blizzards today in central PA. Right now, flow on Penns is 3,780 cf/sec; normal is about 800. Good news is next week looks dry most of the week, at least that's what they think.. Several days of at least partial sun are still forecast, temp up to 70 on Wednesday, which should dry things out a bit. vince |

They are calling for more rain towards the end of the week so the graph will again take on a positive slope ![]() my trailer for spring and summer however so fishing will be secondary. If there's time I may hit Spring Creek as I heard it is fishing well in parts. There's always Fishing Creek. White Deer Creek might be a possibility too. |

Tom, I am going to try and make it up there then too (4/21). I am bid on a major project at work and if we hear positively in the next week or so I may not be able to make it. That's one of the reasons I am going up this weekend. I do look forward to fishing with you and trying some of those flies we discussed on the phone a number of weeks ago. |
