Doug, you probably aren't putting them on right. Put it in place, put a
block of wook up against it, and rap it several times HARD with a rubber
mallet or hammer. They shouldn't be falling off like that if they're put on
correctly.

Oh yeah, I knew what he meant, I would make it look "official" and use an
alan set screw. Thanx for the reply too, peciate it!

Anyway, the drilling and tapping is not a problem and a hell of an
idea!

Perhaps what Bob was talknig about but I'd try a very small bolt. Drill
through the hub only, insert the bearing buddy, and then screw the bolt
into the side of the hub through the hole. I'd not apply too much
pressure.
I point out the bolt as opposed to an actual screw.

Hey Warren,

Yeah, I used a rubber mallet each time and gave them a couple pretty good
thumps and I don't see how they could go on any better, they were seated
well. I think maybe the hubs are just a short hair larger or something.
They feel snug when put on, but then....... you know the rest.

Thanx though!

Doug

I just had the tires replaced with 8 ply tires and had them balanced, and I
was thinking the same thing. Last trip, I was keeping a close eye on the
boat guide ons while on the road, no vibration that I would see, seemed
pretty smooth. I just think its a case of the hubs being just barely to
large or maybe they become larger when warm and then they fall off. I seen
another poster suggested a website, I'll have a look and see what it says.

Thank you for the replies everyone!

Doug, could you have tires out of balance? Maybe highway speeds are
causing your wheels to bounce and jar the Bearing Buddies loose?

Use an allen head set screw. They are built for this and have a point. As
to launching with no bearing buddy, Cut a coke can in 1/2 and it slips
right over the hub. Put a piece of duct tape around if you want even more
protection.

Ooo.., good idea. I needed something to protect my assembled hub from dirt
and the like. I will try the soda can. Make sure it's empty before cutting?

Years ago, some buddies and I were in a Wal-mart type store, and there was a
pallet of cases of soda cans that were wrapped in plastic. One of the guys
wanted a case, so I whipped out the knife. and sliced the plastic across the
length of the pallet. My pocket knife is always very sharp. Hate dull
knives. I must have sliced 15 cans of soda. 7-up spraying every which
way. We casually left the scene of the can massacre.
