I spent most of the day drop shotting today. I rigged a 1/0 wide gap hook
with a cut tail worm and proceeded to have a blast. I caught a lot of fish today. No real size, but I probably caught 30 keepers, and twice that many shorts. I found I could rig the hook to stand out a little easier with a trilene knot instead of a palomar, but I think that is just my personal prefference for and comfort with the knot. I noticed that the drop shot rig tends to get all twisted up and takes some time to straighten out quite often when fighting a fish. Is there something that can be done to reduce that? My hook ups improved drastically when I opened the hook up a little and bent the point off to one side, although I didn't miss many bites. Those small cut tail worms attracted a lot of sunfish too. In fact I think a drop shot with a tiny grub like you might put on a crappie jig might be just perfect for sunfish. -- Bob La Londe Win a Spinnerbait Tackle Kit Spinnerbait Tips & Tricks Contest Through the Month of September 2005 http://www.YumaBassMan.com |
