well, yeah, but you also have the fact that jj redick chose to attend

as you know, steven, i don't often engage in political posting around
here, but i hope i can be forgiven for offering this opinion, in response to
your concern, stated above: i think you are right about the takeover
attempt, but i think it has already passed beyond the "baby steps" stage,
and is in the process of being soundly rejected, as will be evidenced by the
results of the next couple congressional/governors/senatorial/presidential
elections.

i get this deja vu which puts me in mind of the gut feelings i had in
'76. and for you wiseasses, that's 1976, not 1876.

Oh....I was sorta thinking 1776...

IAC, do you really think a Jimmy Carter, Part Deux, is what the US
needs? Carter is good, decent man, but he wasn't a effective President
- there needs to be at least SOME grease in the wheels...

this country has an amazing ability to find a balance; a communal
insight that emits a sense of divine intervention.

Um..."divine intervention"? Isn't that gonna get them folks at the ACLU
all worked up and freaked out? Not that there's anything wrong with
that...

pat robertson to hold an elected office)

Hmm...I think He sent Pat because, well, even He has a sense of
humor...I'm just waiting for Pat and Ray Nagin to get together and make
everyone some nice hot cocoa...and Oreos...well, not EVERYBODY, of
course, just CERTAIN people...

Reminds me more of the McCarthy era and the Commie scare stuff.

I think you're right on the rest. Repress Americans enough and
they'll pop out in kids who will go to the other extreme. The roots
of the Woodstock generation were formed in the 50s.

Or that whole Woodrow Wilson thing. It comes around every generation or
two.

The unfortunate thing is that it only LOOKS like balance......from a long
enough perspective. In fact, it's a rather wild oscillation. Even more
unfortunate is the undeniable historical fact that the large swings toward
liberalism that earmark the rise of great civilizations get progressively
smaller while the swings toward reactionary conservatism get ever larger as
the population gets ever fatter, older, more smug, more paranoid......and
more murderous.

Nixon was an amateur compared to the current regime.

It's a straw to hang on to.

As long as the Democrat Party runs candidates like Gore and Kerry,
both phonier than a Chappaquidick neck collar, the Dems will lose.

Have another bottle on me, counselor.

Phonier than an Andover/Yale plutocrat with a phony accent and a "ranch"
with no cattle?

Phonier than an AWOL former National Guard pilot posing on the deck of
an aircraft carrier in a flight suit and a cod piece under a "Mission
Accomplished" banner?

....nah...the baby steps were in 1932. The steps got longer in '36.
What we are seeing now, are a small number of "I have rights, but no
responsibilities" people whining about a small number of bible thumpers
who want to force the rest of us to prepare for the rapture.
Both groups suffer from anal-cranial inversion. But neither constitute
a significant threat to the rest of "us".

cheers

oz...and it doesn't make any difference where your kid goes to school,
if he is a liberal arts major
P.S. I have a ranch with no cattle -- I manage it for wildlife
