The lawyer business must be slow down there in Cackalacky
for you to be wastin' time on Usenet. Don't you have any
ambulances to chase or little old ladies to fleece ?

What makes it not gratuitous? The fact that it gives us pleasure?

Had to look it up before I could be insulted, which I'm not. Then
again, with the way I fish, I don't hurt them. Ya don't catch 'em, ya
can't hurt 'em (unless you fall on them).

Well, see, there's that 'intention' thing too. You're the only person I
ever saw actually try to fall on a fish...

I'm considering gratuitous discomfort to be unnecessary discomfort. A
certain amount of discomfort of the fish is necessary if we are going to
catch them. In fact, it's the same amount of discomfort (per fish) if we
release them as if we eat them, or even less if you consider getting hit
on the head or put on a stringer "discomfort."

It's blasphemy! These cartoonists are going too far! We should march to
Scott Adams' estate and burn down his house. I declare a fatwa! :-)
