... I'll stand on my head in Fawn Lake. ;-)

That's a good way to get a nose full of weeds Timmmaaay.

I know it's hard to believe I could pass on such a gracious,
heartfelt and generous invitation from the divorce lawyer
but I have at least three good reasons for doing so; time,
place and dumb.

If I were going to Yellowstone to fish I'd go in late August
early September and I wouldn't waste my time anywhere in the
vicinity of that so-called lake. That's time and place, as
for the dumb, if fishing is what you're after the only thing
dumber than hiking up to that so-called lake once is hiking
up there twice.

But I am looking forward to the trip report !

yeah, right. it's the brilliant life that's spent sitting in illinois
chirping nonsense, fishing the ponds and lakes of "chambana".

tell you what then ol' kennie-pooh, let's bet late august/early
september plane tickets (you pick the time you think is best) and the
cost of the horse ride to fawn lake.

if you're right that it's just a soggy weed bed with no fish, i'll
reimburse your plane fare and the horse ride and i'll publicly admit
here you were right; if i'm right that it's a bona-fide lake (about 5
acres size) with fish in it, you'll reimburse my plane fare and horse
ride and publicly admit here that you were wrong. i'm sure you have
loads of friends and admirers out there who will put you up for free.

so? if you've the certainty in your claims, you'll get to go to
yellowstone at your preferred time of the year for free, you'll spend
part of only one day out west in a pretty place but with plenty of time
left over in the day to go sit on your favorite barstool, and you can
brag endlessly how you prevailed over yet another "divorce lawyer".
hell, a brilliant journalist like you could probably twist the whole
thing into an award-winning freelance story and make a few bucks.

ken fortenberry initially said there wasn't a fawn lake in yellowstone,
that it was a fantasy (or something similar)...ultimately, faced with

All right, there is a Fawn Lake. But there is no North Dakota. Who here, has
ever been there or knows anyone from there? See? - I'm right. Oh, there
might be a few jokers that will pretend they know there is a North Dakota,
but it's a hoax.

Gene

I was sure I was there. It was a place that was directly north of
South Dakota. Hmmm. Must have been Lower Canada, eh?

Often taunted by trout. Almost entirely harmless. Really.

Don't ask me what time it is lest I'm of
a mood to tell you how to make a clock.

I'm planning on being out there the 1st 2 weeks in September this year, maybe
all month, and would be happy to take some photos of the event - provided I
could stand being in 40's company long enough.

OK 40, I'll tell you what. You ride up horsey back and I'll walk. That will give
you plenty of time to get to the middle of the 'so called' lake before I get
there. If I'm not there by the time you get to the middle just keep treading
water; I'll be along in due time.
