After your description Wolf, everyone here in ROFF has some evil in them.

Well, the mere possession of any of those characteristics doesn't
necessarily make one evil. Being a victim of Hansen's disease (leprosy),
for example, is generally conceded these days to be simply a physical
affliction, the result of bacterial infection, rather than a manifestation
of an inherent character defect or God's disfavor. Even the entire
inventory could leave one somewhat short of evil. Consider the case of a
child who is, through no fault of his or her own, dull-witted, cowardly,
short, illiterate, neurotic, indecorous, stinky, flatulent, indecisive,
pimply, piebald, mangy, leprous, scabrous, bespectacled, and illegitimate.
It will come as no surprise that he or she will not be very popular at
school (or even at home) and that he or she might, as a result, acquire the
rest of the list by a natural (if rather unfortunate) process of accretion
over a period of years. By now, a decidedly sour outlook on life is to be
expected. Even so, one can struggle to control or manage what can now be
seen as symptoms rather than inherent flaws......one can be bellicose in
disposition but never act on a warlike impulse. No action, no evil.

In fact, that last bit is the key to the whole thing. Unfortunately, simple
truths are the hardest to sell, and finding evil wherever one wishes to is
still the easiest route to justifying wholesale consignment to mass
graves......well, assuming that one can be bothered to bury the dead.

Wolfgang
who, in fairness, is only occasionally flatulent.

I meant evil as irascibility.

You are an evil person. :-)

An awareness of which I have ROFF to thank for. Prior to my arrival here I
had thought that I was merely offensive, obstreperous, dull-witted,
slovenly, cowardly, short, nasty, apostate, illiterate, neurotic,
untrustworthy, demonic, pedantic, traitorous, larcenous, uxorious,
indecorous, febrile, stinky, kinky, hinky, flatulent, unpatriotic,

I never thought I'd see "hinky" come up again on ROFF. Nice work. :-)

[little snip]

Chuck Vance (who at least has the consolation that he'll be standing
in Canada's holy waters sometime next week)

I just looked at a map......Canada is right next to da Yoop, eh?

I just looked at a map too. It looks like the area of Canada where
I'll be is sorta down and way over dere to the left of da Yoop. :-)

But if it wasn't for the fact that this trip is as much for SWMBO to
see her newborn granddaughter and her dad as it is for me to fish, I'd
probably be taking a detour for some pasties and poetry.

Chuck Vance (you betcha by golly)

Go up.....turn right!

Hm.....Pasties and Poetry while perambulating on the Peshekee. I don't
know......this could set a dangerous precedent.....could change the face of
ROFFian claves forever.

Wolfgang
on the other hand, throw in some pork, porter, and panini and it's a
peripatetic picnic.

I don't find that offensive when your with friends, etc. I *do* find
it offensive when it is uttered in public or is on a t-shirt in
public. So, tell him to bite you all you want. d'o)

FWIW, in my experience, its meaning isn't as overtly explicit as you
seem to think. Actually, in my experience it's used for "bite my ass",
which really isn't an invitation. When you tell someone to kiss your
ass, do you really want him/her to plant a wet one there? :-)

Chuck Vance (not that there's anything wrong with that)

One can only wonder what sort of histrionic tizzy davie would go off into on
hearing someone say of something.....in public.....that "it sucks."

Stevie does!

Well, if it's the wrong teenage girl........
