I don't see Moe here much anymore...

Anyone have a recommendation for a good 1-day charter? It has to be
fairly close to a hotel and preferably on the south or southeast side of
the lake. I'm looking for a trip in December or January.

Thanks,
Dan

-----------------
Dan, I recommend Jim Wells, who guides for Scott Martin out of Clewiston.
Bubba Martin and I went out with Jim for two full days a few years back, and
he put us on bass when no one else was able to coax a bite. Both days he
worked hard, trying a number of patterns and locations, until we connected.
Most places we caught a few bass, and both days ended up with 50+ bass over
the gunwales. Wells is an old-timer, and he knows the lower end of
Okeechobee probably better than anyone I know.

Lake Okeechobee Fishing Guides is owned and operated by Scott Martin in
conjunction with Roland Martin's Marina and Resort.

I called Scott and told him you might give him a shout. From what I hear,
vegetation on the lower end of the lake was drastically affected by last
year's hurricanes, and the fish are harder to locate and reach than in years
past.

Joe

Word is the lake is a lot of work right now...

Do you want polite or do you want sincere?

I'm fairly local and so is my customer who I'm taking on the trip. We
can wait until things pick up. Thanks for the tip!

Where do you live, Dan?

Outside of Ft. Lauderdale.

No kidding? I'm in West Davie...

I'm north of Sunrise just off 118th ave. Sounds like we're on opposite
sides of 595.

So do you fish the Everglades? We usually go to Sawgrass, marker
34.8, and last weekend we went to 'the willows', the ramp north of
Sawgrass on 27. That's where we caught those 50 fish...

It's been a while - too long. Most trips out of Holiday Park.
