Joe F. A Nano? Flash memory is a lot tougher than a hard drive. My girlfriend lost her cell phone -- left it out in the rain for a couple of storms. After she bought another one, my neighbor found it lying on the ground. After drying out for a week or two it worked fine, although the display is still a little fogged up. The most important thing is that, after you find your soaked, ****ed up device, DON'T power it on! Throw it in your dresser drawer and forget about it for quite some time. -- Cut "to the chase" for my email address. |

True advice; I've soaked a couple devices, and all have worked later. The latest was a GPS I "left" overnight at 9500' 6 miles back a trail this summer (a mule story). Rained that night, but I found it the next day and tried it a couple of weeks later at home. Good as new (so far). Jon. |

The tech desk at the local Apple store powered it up & it came back to life, though with the bottom 1/8" of the LCD screen non- functional. He can live without the battery indicator. Joe F. |

If you run a cell phone through the clothes washer in the pocket of a pair of pants it will NOT work better afterwards ( or at all ) I was about to recycle some Starrbucks when the Blackberry came loose from the clip and when "splash". This was about 3 seconds before I was going to change the ion concentration of the water in the bowl. I fished it out, shook the water out of it and later blew a can of compressed air through it. The screen got cloudy and finally returned to normal. The battery doesn't seem to hold charge as well but it works. Which is too bad, I think the Blackberry is one of the most useless POSs yet made. If it were mine I would have given it the full sodium ion test. |

One day last May, standing at the top of the boat ramp by Vernon bridge on the henry's Fork below Ashton, a guy I was chatting with pulled out his Blackberry ( I think, I'm not really up on such things ) and fiddled with it. After a short bit he announced the current flow in the river that was about 100 feet away and in plain sight !! He also mentioned getting a GPS reading for the spot ( different gadget, I think ). Now, I know that I'm not the sharpest bulb in the drawer, but .... honest .... I bet I could find that place again without a GPS and tell whether the flow was good for fishing with my eyes. G ASIDE this same guy, who I remember being from the DC area, in a conversation that lasted less than 15 minutes and was supposedly about fishing, let it "drop" in several ways that He, his Wife, and both his Kids, were very "successful" and all made ... and yes I quote .. "sinful amounts of money" At the time, and again now in recollection, I can't understand why anyone would want to try and impress ME, a oldfart that drives a 15 year old very beat-up truck and had a $89 TFO rod in his hand .... seems to me that "success" would include feeling good enough about yourself that the need to "impress" others would cease to exist ??? Um, you're wandering larry ... watch it |

If you run a cell phone through the clothes washer in the pocket of a pair
of pants it will NOT work better afterwards ( or at all ) Well, evidently you can. There is something called Ion Mask technology that is coming to a cell phone near you. http://www.physorg.com/news118513291.html Frank Reid |

Maybe not long before we get dry fly hackles form the growers with ion- mask technology? TL MC |
