Now, now. First, I think we all have to agree that we hold the president

bit as drugged out. We'd know if they released his arrest record. Hell,
he might have been in the slam at the time in question.

Yes, but we at least know he got paid for it, which the White House
equates with "service."

Well, I broke one of my new year's resolutions by responding to a political or
drug related post. Hopefully, I can regroup and hold to the resolution, but
being an election year and all, it's gonna be tough. {:-(

EOT for me.

BTW, before anyone making less than $100,000 per annum tells
me about the wondrous tax cuts the middle class received, please do the math
and subtract figures for state, local tax increases, as well as increased user
fees and taxes on luxuries. Also, please subtract adequate amount for future
debt service, and then tell me how much this tax cut helps us all.

A book worth reading is _The Politics of Rich and Poor_, by Kevin
Philips. Philips was the Republican strategist credited with
inventing the "Southern Strategy" that got Nixon elected to the
Presidency. He then served as Assistant Attorney General until he saw
what was going on in the White House (it came to be called
"Watergate"), when he resigned in protest.

When ALL taxes are considered, the poor pay a higher percentage of
their income than the rich do. In other words, we have a regressive
tax system in the United States.

I don't know why the Alabama AWOL is the story here. There's enough
documented sleaze on the record already.

All of the sudden, military service and sleeze are an issue? Oh, I see, it
only matters when Republicans are involved. When we're talking about blow job
Bill and his wife, the world's most succesfull commodity trader, it's a
different story.

If you saw Commander AWOL doing Guard duty between May and
November of 1972 you could win ten grand (for the USO). !!

If I could remember ANYTHING from 1972, other than a three
finger lid of leafy Mexican cost $15, it would be a friggin'
miracle. ;-)

Uh, Bob, are you saying that no one talked about Clinton's "sleaze"?

Maybe you forgot about Ken Starr, the special prosecutor, and all the
money he spent investigating the Clintons, and the (unsuccessful)
impeachment.

If you're suggesting that the Shrublet be impeached, well I'm all
for it. Sending 547 (and counting) American soldiers to their deaths
under, at best, a trumped up pretense and at worst because of outright
lies, fits my definition of high crimes and misdemeanors a lot better
than lying about a blow job.

Well, only the Republicans talked about sleaze. The Devos, I mean Demos,
told us for 8 years that character didn't matter. So, I believed them. That
was a big change for me. Now, I have to change again.
Let's agree that both Clinton and Bush are draft dodgers, OK? Where does
that leave us? The word "screwed" comes to mind. Does anyone really think it
makes any difference anymore who is president? Every four years it's the same
old ****. Both parties are going to sock it to either big business or the rich
and help the little guy out.
I'm ready for a viable 3rd party. A party with a candidate who will cut a
wide swath through pork, corruption, graft and overspending and let the taxpayer
keep more of his hard earned money.

First of all, Clinton is no longer the President, so can we please stop
talking about him?

Second, Bush is now the President. You agree that he's a draft dodger. I
think he was worse than that. He was actually AWOL from his draft-dodging.

Bush's probable opponent volunteered for extremely dangerous duty in
Viet Nam and came home with the Silver Star, Bronze Star with V, three
awards of the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Presidential Unit
Citation, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal,
Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.

If Bush hadn't played dress-up on that aircraft carrier, and if he and
his surrogates didn't question the patriotism of people like John
McCain, Max Cleland, and John Kerry, I'd give him a pass on his military
record.
