My titanium that cost me $500 is many times better than my tfo that cost
me $89.

Hi All,

The TFO or Temple Fork Outfitters fly rods are by the Spring Brook Company
in Dallas, TX.

They have 3 different series:

Series 1: these are in 2 piece models from $89-$99 USD

Professional: these are in 4 and 6 piece models and Spey from $139 - $299

TiCr: this is their top series in 4 piece mostly from $199 - $249

Right now they have the hottest low to mid-priced fly rods in the US. They
are made over seas at competitive costs so they can offer good quality at
low prices.

They are competing more with St.Croix (USA), Redington, Echo, Cabelas,
Cortland and other high volume, low cost fly rods.

I don't think they would even compare their rods to the high end models of
Sage, G.Loomis, Winston, T&T or Scott.

I carry all these rods (accept Cabelas) in my fly shop. Sage and TFO are our
best sellers as of this date.

I am the happy owner of three of the Professional series rods. I think a
prospective buyer should cast one of them to see how they like it. I know Rick
Pope and he runs his business thje way I would run my own business. He is the
only owner of a rod company I have ever met who told me to try his rod and if I
did not like it to buy someone else's rod. I like that attitude. The 8.5 foot 3
weight rod is my current favorite 3 weight rod.

So this is a rod in his "high end" line, not the IM8 ?
His pricing scheme in this line is interesting, with
a very big range from light to heavy line weight rods.

Yes, its the Titan. I just went out (in the rain) and cast it again.
Switched to my Loomis GL3, then to the St Croix Ultra Legend. These latter
two are both 8'6" and the Titan is 8' (all 4wts). It is like the difference
that the huge titanium drivers gave to golfers used to an old persimmon
wood. I'm still dumbfounded, but I think this is the beginning of a
beautiful friendship.

Well, last month I bought a St Croix Legend Ultra (hey, they're being
discontinued, so they're on sale) 4wt to replace my Loomis 4wt after
casting
the TFO Pro and a few others. It (the TFO) is a good rod and equivalent
to
the Loomis, but felt like it was "rattling." Today, at the Ft Washington
PA
fly show, I just cast and immediately bought the ADG Titanium 8' 4wt.
About
the same price as the TFO, but I was able to load the rod with 5' and 60'
of
line. It cast like a dream. I side-by-side tried it against T&T, Sage
and
Scott, IMHO, it beat them all.
I've never bought a rod on such short notice. This thing felt like
nothing
I've ever casted before. The designer and owner of the company, Mr. Ahn,
walked me through the construction, AFTER I HAD CAST IT. I was already
hooked. One telling thing was the number of vendors and guides that I saw
picking them up and using them in their casting demonstrations.
By the way, until today, I'd never heard of them and have no connection
with

With your history, on any given day, the probability of that happening to
you would be significantly more then just about anyone in the U.S. so either
way may be an option.

I could also just stay down stream from you and wait for the Full Reid to
happen so I could steal a few casts until you dragged yourself back out of
the water (sorry, couldn't let that one slide).
