Default Forced Fishing

Yeah well, I have no sons or other irritations, if I want to go
fishing, I go fishing. This may well be perverse and
unconventional, but that is how it is!

Doug Not perverse at all. Fishing is more important than oxygen. All
Doug other things are foolishness. Except sex.

Which, incidentally, leads us to the subject entitled "children".

I guess I'm lucky....my 10 year old son WON'T go fishing UNLESS he can use
his 5 weight flyrod.... {:O) He has a box full of the flys he ties. Some
pretty unconventional but he does catch fish. I let him be creative. LOL
Thanks!! Mike

My son thinks we're going to hang around the house all day tomorrow so he
can skateboard. I say we're going fishing. What tasteless, odorless
substance can I put in his breakfast so he will either be 100% agreeable,

or
lie quietly in the bed of the pickup truck while I fish? It's supposed to
rain Sunday, so this is important. Stop laughing and come up with some
suggestions.

That may happen with me, too. The day I came home with the new fly rod, I
hadn't even taken it out of the truck yet, so my son didn't know it was
there. Hadn't said a word to him about it. I asked if he wanted to fish the
following weekend and he said "Yeah....but I'm thinkin' I wanna try fly
fishing". I might be buying a 2nd rod shortly.

He used to read In Fisherman Magazine when I was a subscriber, and every now
and then, they'd run a story about what they called "finesse fishing" -
using tiny plastic hellgrammite lures for largemouth bass who weren't in a
mood for the usual lures. My son thought it was a great idea, and he's begun
fishing for EVERYTHING that way, starting with the smallest possible lure
first. Flies are a natural progression for him.
