If only :-). Their nickname is 'wet towel', which actually doesn't
really do them justice. On light material they can put up a decent
fight, especially in running water. When they're up for spawning they
seem to develop some extra 'umph' and are more aggressive.
Still, I don't mind catching them..

We call them Klodeckel, which means toilet seat.
In a river against the current they can be fun. We caught some in the
Rhine.

No Bibio´s at Oostvoornse Meer yet or is it to far from your place?

I honestly wouldn't know.. I must be two years ago I fished Oostvoorne
for the last time. It's a about 1.5 hours drive from my house, but I can
have plenty of fun on home water, the river Rhine (small world :-)).

Default Some Dutch fishies (OVM trip report)

Hi Hans,

I am sure you will be jealous, I told you that will happen. Who want´s
to fish in Patagonia for 6 weeks, if he can have the beautiful
landscape of OVM and the Rotterdam harbour? And I should mention the
perfect kitchen which contains Frites and beer. Sounds like a good
diet?
Here comes a short trip report:

Ok, we (My friends Hans and Mathias) arrived a 5th March at Oostvoorne
and went fishing in the evening. It was raining and not to warm. Heavy
wind, so not the easiest casting conditions. Well nothing special
happend, but I finally could handle my casting.

At Saturday the 6th March we went to the other side of the OVM
(Stormvogel) It was more protected from the wind and so it was easier
to cast. I fished a sinking shooting-head and tried a couple of flies
(the patterns were given to me by Dutch Roffians before. Thanks again.
I tied a couple of them to fill my box.)

Finally a brown Boobie fly did the trick. I could hook two nice
rainbows.

After lunch there wasn´t to much fishing action, so I decided to have
my diet.

The rest of the day we fished a couple of different small bait fish
patterns. We first had again success in the late evening hours, both
of my buddies caught a nice bow, I lost one because my tippet broke. :
(

On Sunday morning we went fishing again, but only for four hours,
because we had to part that and drive to Cologne.

So it was nice short trip to the Netherlands and for sure you have one
of the best fishing lakes in Europe.

I posted some pictures at ABPF. Hooked resized them, (THX) because the
pictures I posted have been to big, sorry for that. I still can´t see
my own thread at ABPF.
