![]() Because they're over 20 feet, the Coast Guard cannot restrict the horsepower, so they're rated "Unlimited". I was told that I can expect to get into the mid to upper 80's with a 250 Merc. None of the boats have carpeting, I asked about that. What I was told is that the boats are so aerodynamic that they cannot find an adhesive that will keep the boat carpet glued down for a reasonable length of time. All the boats they've carpeted have had the carpet come loose. So they grit coat the walking surfaces for traction. I'm supposed to get a CD that has more information about the boat, it's hull, design features etc. -- Steve @ OutdoorFrontiers http://www.outdoorfrontiers.com G & S Guide Service and Custom Rods http://www.herefishyfishy.com Holy Moly....the carpeting gets ripped off this boat??? Steve, I'd ask about the length of the passenger "tethers", or at least you better glance over occasionally to make sure you haven't lost your client!!!! LOL Seriously , though, what about insurance and at what cost. I believe some companies will not insure Allisons, Gamblers, and some similarly constructed (I think Kevlar in the construction), hi-perf hulls. When I insured my Champion 202 w/ 225 Merc.with Hartford Insurance Co. they had many questions about use, performance, and top end speed, and driving habits. I had to assure them that at the age of 50 and living in FL, that I generally do not exceed 40mph even in the fast lane, and usually have my left turn signal on constantly. Wait a minute.....were they talking about the boat? |

![]() "Steve @ OutdoorFrontiers" wrote in message ... I'm selling my beloved Cobra this year and I've had some contact with FastCat Marine. Has anyone heard anything about these boats, good or bad? http://www.fastcatmarine.com Can't comment on the brand Steve, but I did spend 9 hours on a "cat" at Oregon Inlet on New Years Eve doing some striper fishing (I posted photo links here, about the 42lb striper) and I can't recall it's brand, but the model was "Awesome 22", it had twin 115 Suzuki 4 strokers on it. It is a center console, and had a leaning post/livewell deal in the middle, and T-top covering the whole helm area. And I have to say, that I was pleasantly surprised at the ride that a tunnel hull produces. Coming off the backs of swells at speed, you could feel the cushion of air soften the landing on the other side. The day I decide to get me a real ocean going boat, I will certainly consider a tunnel/cat hull if I am not in a position to get the Fountain 38' Sportfish Cruiser that I really want.... I saw one on the local lake this past summer and it is an interesting
design and I liked it. Didn't see it on the trailor but on the water looked good. It was over 20' long and 8' something wide, center console and the deck is all nonskid molded into the fiberglass. It had a Merc 250 and the owner said he had it pushing 80 MPH with trottle to spare. It was pricey over 50K, and with no dealer in NO. CA. was another 3/4K for destination charges. Good luck if you get one Steve.. sket |

I know that a tunnel hull gives an incredible ride. I sometimes regret selling the Baker. Since I bought the Bass Cat I have actually had to learn how to drive.
