Hi, Maybe I'm dating myself as I'm in my 70's now, but, boy, Orvis sure doesn't seem to be the outfit it once was. Tried on the web to get some catalogs about six weeks ago so I could use a gift cert. I got as a present. Never came. So, I called the phone number, and got a very nice lady who promised they would go out immediately. That was over two weeks ago. So, all in all, I've been trying to get some of their catalogs for close to two months now. In the "old" days" the catalogs requested always showed up in about a week; sometime only a few days. What's happened to them ? Have they farmed out all their mail distributions and customer service to India, or somewhere ? Really annoying, as I want to use up the gift cert. They could sure learn a lot from L. L. Bean, who handles this sort of thing just great. Anyone know an e-mail address for the Perkins Jr. who is running the show now, by any chance ? Or some VP who might take this seriously ? Thanks, Bob Orvis has got to be one of the major destroyers of trees on the planet. I get fishing catalogs, clothing catalogs, hunting catalogs, dog catalogs, womens clothing catalogs, furniture catalogs etc. I never know what kind their going to come up with next. I got a catlog sometime this spring with a flyer for the 20 most popular fly patterns in the US, they were only 9.95 so I bought two. When they arrived promptly ( Orvis sent me 3 or 4 emails on the status of the shipment) I was supprized to find out they wern't made in China ( they were tied in Kenya). I bought 4 more for Christams gifts. The new rule in our family is nothing made in China and nothing with a cord ( redundant as most things with a cord are made in China). Proabably done shopping as the only thing still made here is money and I expect to read any day that it's being printed in China. |

There is a guy from Kenya I Yahoo-IM from time to time who ties commercially. I wonder if he made them? He keeps trying to get me to go sell flies for him. LOL. I told him if he tied rubber crawdads and curly tail crubs I might could help him out, but most of my fishing buddies think a barrel cast is what caused the Thunderbirds to crash. -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |
