Sorry, I donīt understand that. ( Not you giving up, there is no point
in getting any panties in a bunch over this on a Usenet fishing group)
but "Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?".

Okay, I'll help out with this one. It's not surprising you don't get that
one; it's a reference to an American movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."
It's kind of pointless to even try and describe the context.

I know the movie, Mathew Broderick as I recall, about a guy playing
truant. It was the context I did not understand.

what's commonplace on the coasts can still earn you some trouble in
the heartland.

And I've got the restraining orders to prove it!

The wife finally got fed-up with ya, heh?

There's a classroom scene where Ben Stein is fruitlessly trying to get
someone in the class to answer a question. "Anybody? Bueller?...."

While I haven't seen the movie in some time, and found the story-line
obviously beyond belief at the time, the dead buddy was pretty ****in' funny
in the situations they put him in. Who was the actor that played the dead
guy?

Not if they were forced to remove them from the shelves (which they were..)

In order to change any of this, one would have to change peopleīs
conditioning and perceptions. That is most unlikely to occur.

It's even more unlikely if nobody calls attention to the problem.

One or two points come to mind, although I can hardly believe I am
actually discussing adolescent girls panties on a fishing group, much
less thinking about various connotations.

I would assume that in the majority of cases, parents, (mainly
mothers) would buy such stuff for young girls.

These things are only actually a problem if somebody calls attention
to them, otherwise they are merely tasteless attempts at profiteering
humour.

Such things are only funny to some people because they reflect very
accurately what some believe, and what actually occurs in society.
So the real problem is not a silly joke on some panties, but what
occurs in society.

Removing the panties will not solve the problem, ( indeed it may well
exacerbate it! )

I understand Mike. I was reluctant to post it except that I recall a
thread a while back where, literally, a member of ROFF was asked to
leave a Walmart for wearing the Bite Me, flyfishing, t-shirt. I was
hoping that he could raise hell with that Walmart of this lack of
discretion and strike a blow for anglers freedom of expression
everywhere!

The desired context was repeatedly asking a question of someone who was not
present. IIRC, Ben Stein was taking attendance.

Well, I donīt really know why that should be upsetting, he got a rise
at least!

Just generally putting my two cents in Tim, no particular negative
criticism.

OK thanks. It must be twenty years since I saw that film, and I saw it
in German, so when some quotes or references are used, it is very
difficult if not impossible to get the gist of the matter

@OP Dead buddy? I canīt remember a dead buddy. I vaguely remember
a car ( ferrari?) being wrecked, and some old guy ( school principal?)
being attacked by a dog?

Ah well, donīt suppose it matters, may even be another film entirely.

I checked, the film was called "Ferris Macht Blau" in Germany;
