To minimize drag try tying on a very long length of tippet, right up to the indicator. You'll have to cut back your tapered leader and effectively ruin it for pretty casting, but it really helps with drag. Strike whenever the indicator so much as pauses. I have some yel foam pinch-ons. I'll give'r a try. nb Those don't work very well, IMO. They don't have enough buoyancy to hold up heavy weight, which sometimes you need. In a "pinch" you can put on more than one. I sometimes use small pinch-on indicators when I'm fishing a tiny dry fly in difficult seeing conditions. It helps to spot the fly (my vision isn't good), but it's annoying when the fish hit the indicator instead of the fly. :-) The Fish Pimps my choice. The only problem with them is that they tend to wear out and come off, littering the stream. Use fresh ones. They're pretty cheap. Polypropylene yarn works well, too. It's very sensitive, but it's harder to move up and down and more difficult to tie on. Tends to kink the leader when you move it. Also harder to cast in the wind. -- Cut "to the chase" for my email address. |

And if that isn't nearly every drift ... add some weight to your rig ... you want to tap the bottom now and then and a beadhead won't get there alone in many cases ... It's a delicate balance between having enough weight to get to the bottom, but not so much weight that you get lots of "false hits" and hang ups. Right on the edge of those two conditions is where you want to be. Sometimes it requires a lot of monkeying around with the weight.. -- Cut "to the chase" for my email address. |

Lacourse
Wasn't he the annoying ass that used to post periodically on this newsgroup He wanted the world to pay homage to his tiny intellect and that mass of fat between his ears If you did not agree w him nor respect what he perceived as his great picatorial contributions he would try to find a way to put a person down as a way of discrediting them and what they had to say However I do believe that he has passed on At least into the internet netherworld from where he was spawnd I have not seen his posts in recent weeks - nor do I miss them I do believe that he was swept away on a raging and torrential river in Maine never to return I can picture him hesed downstream - Bye Bye Davey! The same torrent also took another honkie who aleways posted political and non flyfishing topics on this a flyfishing newsgroups w/o the decencey of going OT The air is noticably cleaner na dmore clear on ROFF and the topics are certainly more fishing related and viable to a fly fishing newsgroup. There had been noticably less flaming also - certainly on my part - At least for the last few weeks Lets hope that it continues. This is a far more informative group Sincerely Fred |

Has anyone used these rods? How do the fish? How do they compare
against Winston and Sage? What are the cosmetics of the rods like? Awesome cosmetics? |

LaCourse is a pretty good nymph fisherman (unlike you), but I'm afraid he's like a legend in his own mind. OR, like anyone else he appreciates a "thank you" for taking the time to answer the man's questions. LaCourse |
