Also, for what very little it's worth. I haven't logged
in to the group in 6 weeks or so. Gave me time to ruminate.

Like Dave--who is now all in favor of PC and gun control--I had
a change of heart myself. Like the magnetic fields
which do occasionally swap ends 180 degrees periodically,
I did too.

All the off-topic chatter and political wrangling in this
group used to bug me (even though I was perhaps *more* guilty
than others myself).

But now I realize it's what the deal is here.
So, for as long as the waters flow freely, I will complain
no more for ever.

And I'll periodically jab pungy sticks into the group's
right wingers too. It's a little like bait fishing.
Nasty but fun.

Say what you will about PC doctrine, the facts are incontrovertible
and the facts are these, eliminating offensive language from public
discourse makes it more civil and making racial slurs the sole
province of racists and bigots helps teach our young people tolerance.
There have been excesses to be sure, but overall we are a better
society and a better people because of so-called political correctness.

I'm still waiting for the "incontrovertable facts", as all I read above is
YOUR opinion. Some numbers, please?
Tom

The only trouble is that the few "right wingers" here have orobably
voted for Democrats (at least I have). Voted for Jimmy Carter because
I was ****ed at Ford, for Bill Clinton because I was ****ed at Bush,
for Michael Dukakus just because. Boy, did I pick some losers.

The problem with most left wingers on this ng is that they have never
nor would they ever vote for a Republican. Try voting the man once
instead of lock-stepping to your party's proclamations.

I'm beginning to believe what my good friend Ken Fortenberry says
about you. I trust his judgement. He has been correct in other
judgements of character. He apparently has you nailed.

Fishing is terrible today. Florida Power and Light opened the dam to
4700 cfs, a flood of Biblical proportions. There are a few places to
fish if you know where the eddys are. Took a couple of small salmon
this a.m. (ciniman caddis hatch) before returning to the cabin for a
nap. Lots of ****ed fishermen in camp.

I spent 20 years in the Navy with blacks, some of them very dear

but why should I repeat them? You wouldn't believe me, would you?
And the use of African American, or Black, or Negro, or Colored is but
a change in the way we address African Americans. It has nothing to
do with PC and everything to do with how you were brought up and your
own actions as an adult..

I do believe you Dave. I believe you hate the n-word the same way I do.
Which means you practice PC. That was my point.
