If you live in North Carolina (somewhere I got that impression) and are
anywhere near Statesville, go visit the ThorLo outlet. It is on I-40 just 1 exit west of I-77. While most of their socks are synthetic, I did pick up a nice pair of silk and wool socks that are really nice. -John "SnakeFiddler" wrote in message ... Alright Folks- On to a less offensive topic. Since ya'll are outdoors kind of people, I figured you could help me on this one. My feet stay cold all winter long. I can wear two pair of socks with boots, and still have cold feet. Any good socks out there that will keep my feet warm. I know ya'll know who the good outfitters are. Any info is appreciated. Thanks- Snakefiddler- -- SnakeFiddler |

Thanks- Snakefiddler- -- SnakeFiddler I have to plug Smartwool socks too. They are excellent and don't seem to cause the itchiness that many associate with wool. Of course, in addition to my Smartwools I also wear the socks my wife knits me. They are also very warm but can unfortunately shrink from a bath in a hot water filled washing machine. g.c. |

Thanks- Snakefiddler- I'll second all the motions for Smartwool. And if you wear a pair of thin sockliners underneath, even better. Sock liners work best if you're moving around a lot and need to wick moisture away. Probably don't need them much if you're relatively sedentary. I'd stay well away from artificial heat, such as electric or chemical warmers. Too much danger of perspiration, which will be a real serious problem when the artificial heat goes away, as it certainly will. Bob |

"If your feet are cold put a hat on your head" has frequently worked for me.
