Yuenglings a few months ago. :-) I guess you're right, Bill. I just didn't know it was spelled that way! One of your ancestors was a plane manufacturer in England.... Probably not; my ancestors came from Ballybricken, County Waterford. "Norris" is a corruption of "Norseman." As you know if you're a faithful reader of Hagar the Horrible, the Vikings spent most of the 8th and 9th centuries raiding England, Ireland, and other places with good food and drink and pretty women. (I've been accused of having a strong family resemblance to Hagar.) The three major cities of Ireland--Dublin, Waterford, and Galway-- were founded by Vikings who decided that living there was better than up in Frozen Norway. So there are lots of Norrises in both Ireland and England. I suppose in some very distant way we're all related. (Them Vikings did a lot of carrying-on.) Thanks very much for the information. vince |
