Hello all.
The possibility exists that I may be taking a weekend trip to Mass. Anyone know of any good Bass lakes within 50 or so miles of Worcester? GPS waypoints as well? Also, can you get a license in Mass. at your local Kmart, as you can in NY? TIA to all who reply. John C. French |

Hey John
Most lakes in mass are pretty small..more the size of ponds. The Quabbin Reservoir (west of Worcester) is the exception. If I was fishing the area for a day I might try Long Pond in Acton/Littleton...has a mix of good depth and weed cover. A1 or Stump pond in Shrewsbury is close and a mix of weed and wood cover. Lake maps are available on line and I think that there is a on line license purchase. Steve "John C. French" wrote in message . .. Hello all. Congamond is a little far from worcester. It does hold great bass but has a
lot of fishing pressure. I like stump pond, otherwise known as A-1. It is in westboro and has a lot of nice size fish. Flint pond on route 20 in Shrewsbury is good although it has tons of weeds. It does however have a great boat ramp. You could also try Singletary in sutton. HTH John "steve burison" wrote in message news:xOJSc.5911$K82.1251@trndny01... Actually, I'll be West of Worcester, in Southbridge/Charlton, so
Congamond is not to far. I have been researching the lakes everyone has mentioned, and think Congamond is my best bet. A-1 and Quabbin Res. looked promising, until I read the limits on motor size. Quabbin doesn't allow anything over 25 horse, (mine's a 40h Mariner.) Also, Quabbin has some fairly large off limits areas that I would not like to accidently enter, not knowing if they are clearly marked. I also read the Congamond By-Laws. It state that no boats can go faster than 10mph on Sat & Sun before 10 AM (never heard of this before). Is this rule in force on the lake? Thanks for all the info, and would gladly entertain other ideas as well. John C. French "RichZ" wrote in message ... John wrote: Congamond is a little far from worcester. Yes That rule is enforced. They are pretty strict about it.
If you are staying by sturbridge then Quaboag and south pond and the Quaboag river that connects them offer great bass fishing. Those are a must hit. Also you might want to look at Buffumville in Charlton. "John C. French" wrote in message . .. Actually, I'll be West of Worcester, in Southbridge/Charlton, so Congamond is not to far.
