They were saying on WCCO last night that the guy had a DNR violation in
MN for having 100 crappies over the limit.

I heard this morning on MSNBC that he was involved in a domestic violence
incident a while ago. Seems he threatened his wife with the same gun....she
refused to press charges. In many states that altercation would have resulted
in confiscation of the gun, not that it would likely have made much difference
to this guy.

Well, there you have it then. Don't know why they'd even bother
with a trial with damning evidence like that in his background.

Doesn't anybody else think the whole story sounds unbelievable ?
Tell the guy he's on private property, ask him to vacate the
tree stand so he does but then he stops 40 yards away, turns
around and for no reason at all starts blasting away. I don't
know about you, but when I hear an unbelievable story I tend
not to believe it.

So what was it Ken? Mass suicide? All these folks take turns using this guy's
rifle to off themselves? Wait...I know....it's that vast right wing conspiricy
thingy again.

The guy has a past history of violent behavior and disregard for the law. He's
deer hunting with a 20 round magazine attatched to his rifle. (I don't know
Wisconsin law, but I'll bet that's illegal.) He is confronted by an angry
landowner and friends and sent packing. 2+2=?

The only thing I find unbelievable is that none of the victim's group was able
to take him out. THAT'S the part of the story I'd like to hear.

There's no limit here as to size of magazine. From what I understand
only one of the people who responded to the walkie talkie cry for help
was armed. I think they thought it was an accident. I wouldn't be
surprised if there were racial epithets hurled, I heard the G-word
several times in the lunch room yesterday during breaks. But it would
be unfair to assume, as of now, that the people who were shot had been
abusive. And it certainly would still be no excuse to off them if they
had been.

I have no idea. The only information I have is the same as yours.
I just don't believe the story as presented, it doesn't make sense.

From the AP:
"HAYWARD, Wis. (AP) -- A man suspected in the killings of six hunters told
investigators he began firing after he was shot at first and some of the
victims called him racially derogatory names, according to documents filed
Tuesday."

Two sides to every story.

Anyone familiar with the history of race relations in northern
Wisconsin over the past couple of decades shouldn't have much trouble
finding that account credible.

Two sides to every story.

Well, there's the rub. For the moment at least, the other side is
somewhat under-represented.
