I have read that there are not enough people to monitor chat rooms and news
groups so the CIA has contracted the work out to several firms in India.

The FBI has been dropping in on chat rooms for quite some time.

What, are they recruiting 12 year old girls for their higher intellect? I mean, Allah
knows that they can use all the help they can get!

Anyone on Usenet or in chat rooms can be a 12 year-old girl. I'm one
right now, and I like boy bands and corn-rows in my hair. See how easy
it is?

One reason that I know of was to look for hackers (negative
definition).

No, trying to protect 12yo girls...I think it's a _good_ thing
they're dropping in on chat rooms...

"A good thing", you say? Oh yeah, like they won't see right through THAT
cover...

Jon.

Jon,

From the few situations involving the FBI where I've had access to the LOCAL
accounts of what happened, AND the situation became a NATIONAL item, . . .
the FBI would appear to be an inept outfit, populated by thickheaded aging,
Eastcoast college boys, most interested in grandstanding and taking credit
for local police work. (Example: pretending they caught Hussein at the BC
border).

The stereotype on some of the police shows in which the local cops find that
the FBI gets in the way and wants all the credit, does seem to have
substance. Too often the FBI's tendency to misjudge local situations, and/or
set up bizarre field operations ends in tragedy (Example: Ruby Ridge, Waco).

If you want to assess the effectiveness of the FBI in police work I suggest
you look into their accountability in the ongoing plague of bankrobbery, and
top, it off with a look at the scandals in their forensic labs, perhaps
followed by a swig of their joke of a fingerprint system.

Dave
