Please update details uk.rec.fishing.game Members! The motley crew that attempt to get together every year have decided to go back to Brenig again this year. Date :16th July 2005 Venue: Brenig Tel : 01490 420 463 Fax: 01490 420694 See: http://makeashorterlink.com/?C3A92145A Thos of us so far committed will be staying at: The Glan Aber Hotel Betws y Coed North Wales LL24 0HB Tel: 01690 710325 Fax: 01690 710700 See: http://makeashorterlink.com/?T1995345A So far we have 6 takers but obviously the more the merrier. Booking boats and accommodation will be your own responsibility but if you have any questions then please email me. I think anyone who has attended one of our gatherings in the last few years will tell you that we have enormous fun, good food and good company and some of us even manage to catch a few fish :-) Be great to see a few more to make up the numbers! Cheers, Alec -- Alec and Valerie Powell Watlington Oxon. UK Web Pages: http://www.prole.demon.co.uk/ |

Cheers, Alec Hi Alec, Make sure, this year, that you don't just *give* the fish to the chef. Make the bugger pay forr them because they make a decent (or indecent) profit on their "locally caught" trout. I reduction in your hotel bill would be appropriate. Negotiate - that is the answer. Have a good time anyway. -- Bill Grey http://www.billboy.co.uk |

Charles, yes, you could book a boat on your own and there are no spare places. What we could do is to take it in turns to do a bit of bank fishing so everyone gets a boat trip out of it. I'm sure the others will agree with me on this. Other alternative is to find another taker for the meeting. Come along anyway! Cheers, Alec -- Alec and Valerie Powell Watlington Oxon. I will be attending as I have a romme booked for the friday and saturday nights. I am hoping to get the chancellor to attend but I am unsure. Even if she does come she will not be fishing. I am quite chilled about the weekend and will try to fit in with the crowd. Regards Charles |

Andy Lawson wrote: Only 2 weeks to go! SShhhhh...... Or someone will change the weather Charles: we always have "good" weather. (That is, when we are sitting in the Glan Aber watching AL pigging out on his lamb shanks). When we are actually fishing....well that is another story. All will be revealed on the 15th! Any latecomers interested in the event of the year? Cheers, Alec -- FROM THE 'CHRONICLE OF THE CONQUEST OF GRANADA', BY FRIAR ANTONIO AGAPIDA COMMENTING ON LORD RIVER'S ENGLISH CONTINGENT TAKING PART IN THE LAST CRUSADE TO RID SPAIN OF THE MOORS: 'THEY WERE HUGE FEEDERS, ALSO, AND DEEP CAROUSERS, AND COULD NOT ACCOMODATE THEM-SELVES TO THE SOBER DIET OF OUR TROOPS, BUT MUST FAIR EAT AND DRINK AFTER THE MANNER OF THEIR OWN COUNTRY. THEY WERE OFTEN NOISY AND UNRULY, ALSO, IN THEIR WASSAIL, AND THEIR QUARTER OF THE CAMP WAS PRONE TO BE THE SCENE OF LOUD REVEL AND SUDDEN BRAWL....... THO' FROM A REMOTE, AND SOMEWHAT BARBAROUS ISLAND, THEY YET BELIEVED THEMSELVES THE MOST PERFECT MEN UPON EARTH' |
