uh...perhaps you aren't familiar with the current law enforcement
policies and the procedures employed in responding to "domestic
violence" complaints. it's all tactical, storm trooper stuff nowadays...

Oh, Lord, not another extreme...no, it isn't "all tactical, storm
trooper stuff nowadays..." but the Weaver/Ruby Ridge situation involved
people who had pulled guns on LE before (including the wife), had a
stockpile of guns and ammo, and the primary thing that started it all
was Weaver's ready agreement to sell shortened shotguns (regardless of
them being slightly over or under 18" barrels) to urban gang members so
as to encourage them to kill each other. This wasn't Mrs. Campbell
calling Andy because Otis was likkered-up and, um, "frisky." IAC, as
I'm sure you well know, LEOs hate domestic calls more than any other,
but with the very good reason that they are the most dangerous overall
category of call the average LEO ever faces.

uh...hardly. look again. dave said "you don't send the tactical squad
to a domestic complaint". i said...yes they do in domestic violence
complaints. i wasn't talking about ruby ridge or waco...just correcting
dave's statement in the general context of domestic violence complaints.
hardly extreme. i've not contested your statements, nor have i entered
the fray... one of the reasons the tactical squads are sent is because
of the possible danger; but, when andy and aunt b have an argument and 5
of mt. airy's armed deputies with plenty of bullets, and about as much
tactical sense as barney, show up, well...it can get interesting. and,
yeah, it is tactical, storm trooper stuff. probably merited on a worst
case scenario basis. take a citizen's ride along one evening with your
county's domestic violence squad sometime. there are several reasons
they make you sign that release. g

If I can change the subject for a second, when your new pup gets several
months or a year on her, are you gonna bring her fishin' with us? Bear could
show her a thing or two about proper stream etiquette, ya know!

Lookin' forward to our next outing.

I know Randy Weaver - he lives near me and personally I think that he is a
jerk!

As some of you may already know I am no fan of our federal gov't and its
policies.
I think that those in power are crooks and war profiteers

I hate paying taxes that go to bombs and not to help people right here in
the US
I do pay them because I do not want to go to jail
and the last time I looked the Federal gov't had more guns than I do

How could an ass like Weaver ever put his family at such peril??? for any
kind of reason??
Besides the fact that he is a racist fool and an ignorant one at that
I would never and could never do that to my family!

I also have no respect for anyone that would go to an Aryan meeting - He
even went back one or 2 more times
If some jerk came up to me and talked about running guns I would run as far
away as i could from that person

Randy Weaver deserves everything that could be thrown at him - He was not so
innocent!
His family did NOT deserve what they got
I know 2 of his daughters and they are still shell shocked

I also do blame the fedral gov't for way over reacting in this situation.
Its like some of the small town police that we have here
They jump at any excuse to pull out their guns and to use them?
I suspect thats really a phallic manifestation of their personalities

My 2 cents worth

Yeah, especially since he just started a thread concerning the evils
of political threads on a fishing ng.

Duh!

i doubt it. i'll never get her trained like bear, and she and i have too
much goofus in common to ever attempt such a joint venture...though gia
is a far superior companion, you and bear will have to tolerate me.

Uh...you said "it's _all_ tactical, storm trooper stuff" (emp. mine) -
I'd say that's a fairly extreme characterization - YMMV.

I'd offer that not _all_ domestic cases are met with such action, and
from what I've heard, I'd further offer that most aren't.
