You also missed the point. *Listen to Reverend King's (oh, yes he was a Christian minister) words. *Judge people by their character not their skin color. *That I do not agree with some of the Reverend moral shortcomings, DOES NOT DIMINISH HIS WORDS. The same applies to Rush. *Debate him on his words. Drop the smears and name calling. *Keep it in the arena of ideas. By the way, I did check out your link. *It did seem interesting. See Beancounter's thread? Up to 402 now. He gets to post his whackjob hate Obama stuff there and folks get to read it or not. He posts non- political stuff elsewhere and no one gives him much **** there. Obama hate posts outside his Obama Hate thread gets some bite-back. Accomodation. Result: Fellowship still possible among people who disagree on lots of stuff. You could get something like that working for you. Maybe something like a "Rush, Jesus and Todd" thread where mostly you get to share your mishmash. Then you could restrain working the Rush and Jesus into your posts on the other threads, let folks get to know you, experience more of the rough and tumble of ROFFIAN "debate" and maybe even share some fishing face times, which is one of the best parts of ROFF. You might find that there are more than a few real conservatives and Jesusites on ROFF, and you would certainly find yourself less a target for bitebacks. Dave |

And, I make a very good friend. you've a friend in jesus...why look elsewhere todd? ... i've found that this place, with all its flaws and brute smacks, can yield some very good friendships and fishing adventures. why not leave jesus and limbaugh where they can serve your cause better? if you are here just to profess and witness and ditto...well, you might want to keep your vaseline and a helmet handy. it's gonna be a rough and unpleasant time. of course, it's entirely your choice. there's grace and damnation aplenty whichever way you go... jeff |

Okay Todd. I'm a Democrat that listens to Rush. This work for you?
Things in the last two weeks that he has spouted that are totally wrong that I've heard. (not a complete laundry list, just a couple of things I heard whilst driving) Clinton cowardly pulled us out of the Philippines. Check it out, the Philippine government blackmailed us and quadrupled the amount of money they wanted so that we could keep our bases there. Our carriers would do the job for a cheaper price. With everyone in the military saying get us out, we left. Government workers don't don't pay into Social Security - Oh, come on now, you know how many times I've heard this from Rush, Glenn Beck and Savage? Yes we do. He confuses Senators with the rest of the government workers. I only get a little Rush Limbaugh (about 1/2 hour in two weeks) time during my work week because I'm WORKING during this time period. I put Rush right up there with "The View." Its self-admitted entertainment with a political message. By the way, Star Trek and Leave It to Beaver aren't real either. As Rush himself says, check your facts. I do. I don't slavishly hold to one view or another. If someone in the media says something I feel reflects upon my view, I look it up in the public record. And oh, by the way, I signed my name on the dotted line saying that I would die to preserve the separation of church and state as our founding fathers wished, so keep religion out of political arguments. No, I don't have a permanent problem with folks who only have different political views than mine, IF I KNOW THAT THEY ARE OTHERWISE DECENT CONRIBUTERS TO MY COUNTRY AND THE OTHER THINGS I CARE ABOUT. I have a deepening problem with you very specifically because of your racist and fanatical hate statements, which you wrap in Jesus talk, like you had it on his authority. And how you couple the Jesus stuff, with your slothful and slavish Rush worship I find disgusting and hypocritical. You need to earn some creditability before you go telling others on a recreational group how they should access YOUR notion of Jesus. Want some respect? Lets hear what you personally are doing to clean up corruption and abuse in your own sect. What have you done to make whole the people you have wronged in your life? Until you have that creditability it is pure vainity to go preaching to others without a major dose of humility. If you want to be a missionary get some training and some attitude adjustment, or mostly you will just **** people off. Dave Stop idolizing scumbags like Rush, and you just might have time to read and talk to Muslims, Jews and Catholics and clear some of the hate from your mind. Dave, You are just being mean. You are also slurring me. And, you have some rather strange, preconceived ideas of others. How would you like it if I pulled a bunch of the meanest insults I could think of out of the air and flung them at you. "Okay, you are a [insert the meanest insult you can think of here], now defend yourself." You would not care for it. Be respectful. Keep it to the arena of ideas. People will mostly listen to you. Slur folks who don't agree with you and they will just think you are closed minded and mean spirited. -T |

Frank Reid Hi Frank, Now that's what a liberal sound like that actually listens to Rush. Not a single remark about his anus. He didn't call me a single name either. Even though he is very displeased with Rush, he kept it to the area of ideas. To respectfully disagree with you, there is no separation of church and state in the constitution. That was a creation of the supreme court in the 19 century. Thomas Jefferson did make a remark about it in one of his writing. The constitution bars the establishment of a state religion. The supreme court even has a copy of the ten commandments on the front of its building. When I got the racism insult flung at me, I though everyone should know my moral beliefs actually were. I did not know that about that the PI. Thank you. See, he was respectful and I actually listen to him. Thank you for signing on the dotted line. So did I. -T |

Wow. Talk about smearing and name calling. Seems to me you left off space alien and Nazi. And it seems to me you didn't bother to deny any part of the characterization. Hits pretty close, eh ? Actually, I though he was just flinging insults because he could not form an argument. Everyone you disagree with gets automatically smeared. That's a lie. And a smear. Many here have had substantive disagreements and arguments with Dave and, when appropriate, Dave is always respectful of opposing views. I stand corrected. You pick and choose who you insult. My apologies. snip Living in a representative democracy, with all the necessary open debate, must drive you nuts. One cannot "debate" with someone who is intellectually unable to articulate and defend a coherent argument. Your problem Todd is that you believe your regurgitating Limbaugh deserves all the respect accorded reasoned discourse simply because you believe it. Sorry dude, you're woefully ignorant and your arguments do not deserve consideration, respect or debate. What is with you and the insults? Haven't you ever wondered why Limbaugh never appears on the Sunday morning talking head shows ? You know, those roundtables where the liberal Paul Krugman openly laughs at the economic naivete' of the conservative George Will ? If you had listened to Rush, he would have told you why. He mentions it about once a week. The reason I do not believe you listen to Rush is that you can only fling insults at him and not argue in the arena if ideas. You pray about that Todd and see what Jesus tells you. LOL !! Jesus said those that hate him will hate you too. Just the way things are. -T |

So what's with "white hookers" ? If Martin Luther King Jr. had "a thing" for hookers what possible difference could it make to a decent christian like you if she's white ? Yeah, that righteous indignation **** ain't gonna fly, Todd. One doesn't need a good nose to smell the racism in your posts, they absolutely reek of it. That was just an unfortunate moral short coming of his. Look it up. This is one man I am talking about, not a race. A Christian man that I highly admire by the way. You complete missed the point. Reverend King's words strike a moral cord. I used Reverend King as an example of someone that liberals like. And as a Christian, that makes the Reverend King my spiritual brother. So bugger off on the racism slurs. So if you are still missing the point, listen to the words and do not trash those words because of a short coming in the personal life. Ken, in the short time I have known you, I have approached you with respect and friendship. You have responded with profanity, name called, and slurs. Your behavior has been reprehensible.
