....blame it on the long miserable winter causing me to lose a few more
brain cells, why else would I come back here? Unless of course roff is a condition similar to alzheimers, it gets worse with age and I sure ain't gettin any younger. To start with a clean slate, apologies to those who I might have ****ed off in the past and might do so again in the future. Lessee, went all the way to California to visit my Navy son, and on the last day there fell and broke my ankle. This afforded a nearly $2000 visit to the local emergency room (this small Coast Guard base only has a clinic, no MD) The best part was instead of returning on AMTRAK as ticketed, I got to fly home on SWA with curb to curb wheel chair service, board first even before the little kids, heck, even TSA was a pleasant experience. Going to WallyWorld shopping has been fun too, riding in the electric cart it's amazing how many ladies offer to help retrieve something from the shelf, sporting a "cripple" sticker in the windshield gets me hassle free parking too. I'm seriously considering breaking the other ankle just so I can drag this fun out a little longer. And, oh yeah, turned 77 last month so you whippersnappers show a little respect. Sore ankle and all, I put new tires on the boat trailer, repaired a leaky pontoon on the WaterSkeeter and took the Merc in for a tune-up. The ice is out here so it won't be long before I begin pestering the local bluegills and bass. Planning a trip to Maine this summer to float the Androscoggin with my fishin' bud up there, gonna rip some smallmouth lips. OK, consider yourselves caught up whether you wanted it or not. Frank Church Fremont, Indiana Great to see ya back and very glad to know you are still with us both physically and mentally! I agree to be a kinder and gentler ROFFian too, so long as we avoid the political nonsense and socially sensitive discussions--cannot promise to remain civil if such post go off the deep end, though I will do my bestest. Saw Jennifer the other week, she asked about ya. She completed her masters program a couple of years back and is working at AppState as an instructor--not a professor, yet. I also hope to complete my program in May and go into economic development or become an assistant town manager or something or other. Fished the wild trout waters of Upper Creek and the delayed harvest section of Wilson Creek on Friday. Not much luck on Upper Creek, but Wilson Creek was a blast with nothing less than 14 inch bows and brookies. I started out with a dry fly, but quickly converted to nymphing, after watching my fishin' buddy haul in fish after fish on his dropper rig. I gotta new fishin' hound, Bear, and he is absolutely a nut case and the best fishin' hound on the face of the Earth. He don't much care for the water, but has an affliction that requires him to be by my side at all times, so he wades in regardless of the temps! He is actually my 76 year old mother's protector, but I try to keep him in good physical shape by taking him with me whenever possible--fishin' and campin'. I posted a few pics of Bear and me on Upper and Wilson Creeks, plus a few fly pics. http://www.flickr.com/photos/47362605@N07/ take care and very happy to see ya back, Op |

You old rascal. Where the hell have you been? Really missed you, Frank.
A bit of advice: Never, ever, apologize to the nitwits that haunt this place. We are all crazy, and crazy folks don't apologized to one another. Joanne and I have bought a winter home in the mountains of north Georgia. I couldn't take another winter of two foot snow storms followed by another one footer, etc. Grandson #2 is house sitting in Massachusetts (which now has a Republican Senator!), shoveling snow and running his father's super market. A plus: fishing in the winter, and I'm not talking ice fishin'. d;o) I am sure the smallies on the Andy will shudder when you arrive. Joanne and I will be in the Rangely lakes region from late May until sometime in July. If you have a day or two, please come visit and I'll show you some big brookies and enormous landlocked salmon. You hang in there, Frank. And you did nothing wrong to leave for such a long period of time. Welcome back, you old fart. Dave |
