What's your problem ? Even if lubricant, cleaner and dressing are all
the same thing to you that's not necessarily always the case, and what
the **** is wrong with posting the same query after a year has passed
anyway ? Hell, I don't remember some of the **** I read YESTERDAY fer
cryin' out loud.

Your last post, I was willing to let slide especially with your
black/kettle remark. But this is over the top! Unless you've found God
or something, the only reason you weren't chiming in is that the guy
isn't a "newbie" to you.

I sincerely don't understand the "pleasure" obtained from jumping on
"newbies." Since, at least in the past, one of your favorite games was
jump on the "newbie" maybe you can explain the "pleasure" you get from it.

Why assume the worst? Seems to me it doesn't cost anything to give a
person the benefit of the doubt. If they turn out to be an asshole maybe
you can make a friend. If they're a troll, who the **** cares? If toying
with the "newbie" is some kind of game, it seems to me that the biggest
challenge in the game is typing the words.

To answer the guy's question, I very seldom use any commercial product.
I've never found one that lasts any length of time. If I get one free
with a line, I'll use it but usually I just clean my line with a diluted
soap solution and then rinse it off. The only treatment I do is to Gink
it streamside if I'm having trouble keeping it floating. Before I Gink
it, I pull it through a piece a chamois, or my shirt tail or ? to clean it.

You're mistaken. Sanctimonious, holier-than-thou, fundamentally
Usenet clueless and mistaken. What you call "newbie" bashing has
a long tradition on Usenet dating back to the days when newsgroups
were inundated with smart-assed freshmen every September. To save
a lot of senseless bickering with idiots, and in no small part to
warn off other idiots, breaches of netiquette were dealt with very
harshly. This may seem cruel to a sanctimonious little prick like
you, but actually it works out quite well. Then along came AOL and
it wasn't just every September anymore, it was all the damn time,
and then WebTV and etc. etc.

I have never jumped on a newbie who came into this looney bin with
a sincere interest in fly fishing, a good attitude and the requisite
respect for, and knowledge of, netiquette.

Remember, I'd rather be forced to proofread and edit Wolfgang's
autobiography than apologize on roff.

Your getting very good at this tap dancing on your dick routine.
Having Dougie as a mentor and role model is paying off quickly.

How clever of you to get so much amusement mileage out of so
flimsy a conceit.

Mileage? You call that mileage?

Or are you just being lazy ?

Born that way.......hope to die so......maybe......some day.

FWIW, mikeb is a long time lurker, occasional poster and
someone with whom I correspond once a year when he comes to
Champaign-Urbana for a statewide high school competition.
His home, Carbondale, Illinois is surrounded by Shawnee
National Forest and more good bluegill, bass and crappie
water than you can shake a stick at.

A. It ain't worth all that much. B. Your correspondence, such as it is,
is of little interest to me. I dare say that I am not alone in this world.
C. Not that one has reason to suppose that anyone cares what Carbondale may
or not may be surrounded by, but I already knew that. D. I know many a
pond within an hour's drive that holds more bluegill than I have thus far
been able to shake a stick at........wouldn't know about bass or crappie.
E. So?

He's a guy you might want to cultivate as a fly fishing friend

Goes without saying, and thus, I won't bother to mention that you need not
have bothered.

and he's not someone
who deserved the full-fledged wisenheimer treatment,

Ah! Someone who has not yet benefitted from the dawning realization of who
his friend really is, eh? Well, there is time yet.

and yes
I am fully aware that coming from me that sounds a lot like pot,
kettle, black.

By now, it should be clear even to you that by now, nobody much cares what
you may or may not be aware of.

Wolfgang
you makes your bed and then........um.......how does the rest of that go?

So answer his question, then. What's your favorite lubricant? Cleaner?
Dressing? Home made and store bought?

KY jelly, Spic & Span and balsamic vinaigrette, and that would be
store bought, store bought and home made.

Well, there ya go, Mike!

Wolfgang
who, truth be told, is more interested in the company people keep than what
it's dressed in.

Au contraire, there is somewhere out there in cyberspace a gruesome
little gnome who will not only thoroughly peruse each and every one
of my missives but will also take the time to insert nasty remarks
and annotations in most of them. And don't you think for one minute
that I don't appreciate it. ;-)

I included what I wrote before in order to give you another shot at reading

You're forgetting the first rule of finding yourself in a hole

Of course. But, as you know, your fans* will have no clue as to what you
