Default Fishless Trip Report

Daybreak yesterday found me at Dale's Point with my little Temple Fork two
weight rod. It was one of those days that was a little different around here
with a good bit of fog in the air, but you could still see the far side of the
little lake. I could no longer see the brim bed as the weed had grown up to the
point where it looked like there had not been any fish in the little lake
later. From all the fish I caught that could have been true. I had a good time
casting the little rod with yellow foam spiders, chartreuse foam spiders, purple
foam spiders, psychedelic foam spiders, green weenies, and several colors of
cap spiders and never had to worry about releasing any fish. In fact I never
had a strike in the three hours I fished yesterday morning.

Drove by the damn at Lake Texoma and found that the lake had turned over and it
stunk to all hell below the damn. Drove over to the spillway launching ramp and
watched a guy using a surf casting rig with a spinning reel casting that rig a
long long ways while fishing for stripers. He caught 7 on consecutive casts but
they were all small for this area of the lake with them running about a foot
long.

Does anyone have any idea how I could learn to cast a fly rod the 75 to 100
yards where I could get out to where those fish were?

Still it was a great way to spend a morning. When I arrived at the lake it was
in the lower 70's and was probably about the mid 80's when I headed the truck
home with Big abd Rich singing on their new CB that song that asks that age old
question Why's Everybody Want To Kick My Ass? This new Hick Hop music ain't
too bad.

This has been a strange summer in the Dallas Area. I think we only had one day
where the temp reached 100 and that was not even in the month of August.
It has never been that mild in all of my life.
