Default Flyline Dressing?

Mike,

It all works but some seem to think that the Japanese made "TMC Line
Dressing" imported by Umpqua is best.

Some swear by "Russ Peak Line Dressing".

The old timers use Mucilin paste.

(I buy that Abolene stuff by the 55 gallon drum so I can save enough money
to go to the sushi bar once a month.)

Thanks Bill...I appreciate your help. Also, I am here in Southern Illinois,
a beautiful area to behold. I'm less than five minute from a huge Federal
Wildlife refuge and the Shawnee National Forest. Allot of great warm water
fishing, though Devils Kitchen Lake a large pristine deep and clear
springfed lake has a sustaining population of good trout. It was stocked
back in 1975 and the fish liked it enough to spawn and survive. It is
stocked occasionally. Thanks to those that helped. Mike

I included that sentence in the first place to embarrass you, but as
that is apparently impossible, I couldn't summon the stomach to see
it in print again.

Gaaaaaack !!! WAY too much info. Like we really need footnotes to know
that you type to roff with one hand while jacking off with the other.

No but I have heard of people using it. I have also used Scotch Guard....I
also use Scotch Guard for my Foam Flys. I let them soak then dry. It works
for me. Some people have environmental issues with using such products
though. MIKE

Some have said that putting Armor All on a fly line is like
putting sawdust in the transmission of an old car. Works great,
.... for awhile, and then you're screwed.

I've never tried it. I wash my lines with warm water and Ivory
soap and dress them with red Mucilin.

Here's a blast from the past, (with apologies to Walt "two bucks
and a jug of whiskey" Winter ;-).

Interesting thread. Ol' George made one good point. There is a huge
variation in the ingredients in soap. The the lye soap my grandmother
used to make would have cleaned the brown off of a hippo.
