Ah. Stealing your employer's bandwidth at your .edu account to get
fishing pictures. How fantastically ethical that is. Do you download
porn also?

Just curious -- Do you ever worry that any one of the multitudes that
you **** off with regularity would seek revenge by complaining to your
employer? I'd never do that, of course, but eventually someone will if
you keep it up. My advice to you is to use that .edu account for .edu
business and for nothing else, or you'll find yourself begging in the
street.

It better be a whole lot bigger than T1!

Why is that?

Good thing you don't hold any grudges...

As evidenced by the kind words directed at me in a.b.p.f. :-)

I'm done now.....just make sure you're fair in the future.....

Since I wasn't around during the dunking, you were nominated by IJ and
Jeffy. Because we only had two nominations (well, three, but the rules
committee vetoed one of them), you're inclusion was pretty much automatic.
Granted, the sit downs were nominal (as opposed to the winner's water
angel), but nominations, even nominal nomination, are not taken lightly by
the august body of the rules committee.

Stealing bandwidth? People get all kinds of email from colleagues, friends
and family (not to mention spammers) all over the world. The Medical
College, like most institutions, does what it can to suppress spam but, as
far as I know, it has never objected to employees receiving email.

Do you download porn also?

My interest in women is as people. Graphic depictions of other people's sex
lives (and fantasies at that) hold no fascination for me.

Just curious -- Do you ever worry that any one of the multitudes that you
**** off with regularity would seek revenge by complaining to your
employer? I'd never do that, of course, but eventually someone will if you

Well, we all know you would never do such a thing. As a matter of fact,
given your own finely honed sense of ethics, independence, and manly honor,
I'm sure everyone here would agree that you would certainly offer to
personally beat up anyone who might so much as suggest such an action for
the benfit of anyone who can see no other clear path to settling personal
difference than an attack on someone else's livlihood.

My advice to you is to use that .edu account for .edu business and for
nothing else, or you'll find yourself begging in the street.

Thank you. Once again you do yourself proud in your selfless consideration
for others.

Wolfgang

Most .edu sites (and probably most .com sites, too) either implicitly
or explicitly allow personal communication through their computing
resources. Our own policy only says that "secondary" uses should not
interfere with "primary" uses. We do have other guidelines that
restrict "offensive" use of the resources, but that's about it.

The "offensive" use of resources is the point. Someone like Wolfgang,
who seems to get his kicks by offending as many people as possible, is
living dangerously when he uses his .edu account to do it.

Nothing posted to a contentious Usenet group like roff would
be considered "offensive" by most .edu NNTP administrators.
If you posted streaming videos of lesbian sex to alt.religion
that would be offensive.

That may well be the case, but NNTP administrators don't like getting
bombarded with complaints, even if they are unfounded ones from nut
cases. For that matter, what's to stop a ****ed-off nut from writing
emails or letters to everyone at Wolfgang's employer who might be his
superior?

I've seen this happen in another newsgroup and it was ugly. It could
happen here.

It's dangerous to use your employer's account to offend people on
Usenet. That should be obvious, but apparently it isn't.

I, for one, find it touching that you care so much about another's
disposition. Of course, that should be obvious. ;-)

Oh, I don't know about that. For someone with a sense of humor
reading unfounded complaints from nut cases is the entertaining
part of an otherwise dull and tedious job.

I wouldn't shed a tear if Wolfgang got slammed because, frankly, he
almost deserves it. But my message is for everyone.

DON'T USE YOUR EMPLOYER'S ACCOUNT TO POST TO USENET!

This goes especially for people who get into controversial stuff, like
politics and insults and tippet size. :-) You can get into big trouble.
There are god-knows-how-many people reading this stuff, and the odds are
that at least one of them is nuts.
